    Glock 29 barrel question

I took my 20 and 29 to the range and noticed that when the slide is locked back on the 29, the barrel seems loose. I checked the 20 and it didn't seem loose.

I can move the barrel on the 29 almost a .25 inch in all directions.

    Normal?

    Thanks.

My guess would be because the 29 has a shorter slide there is more play between the slide hole and the barrel. (if that makes any sense) My 26 has a decent amount of play as well.

Ok thanks. Functioned perfectly and accuracy seemed good. These 10mm guns are heck a fun to shoot.

Just picked mine up off the desk here to look... The muzzle end of the barrel can be moved around about 1/16th inch in any direction with the slide locked back. This is a G29SF model, no idea if there's a difference in the non SF model. 1/4" seems quite excessive, if it's actually that much.

That said, as long as the barrel, slide, and recoil spring assembly as assembled correctly (might want to check) and everything is ok, barrel looseness won't hurt anything as long as it locks up nice and tight when it battery.

            Al8550,

I bought a 20 and 29 pretty much at the same time. Both in OD. I was on a 10mm kick after buying a used SW 1076. That gun is the most accurate handgun I own. The Glocks are real fun to shoot. The 29's recoil is a little stout but I have no issues shooting it. To me the recoil is more of a push, not too snappy.

Get one, you'll have a blast. If you're in the Sacto area, Wild Bill's has a black one in stock

Checked my 29, same amount of slop compared to my other Glocks, which is quite a bit. I wouldn't worry about it.

Got to agree with what I marked in bold.

Just checked a pretty new (month old maybe 500 rounds though it) Glock 23 and I would say there is 1/16 to 1/8 inch of play on slide lock. But it locks up fine when in battery.

Yup just factory ammo since I don't reload yet. Been saving the brass for the day when I do get reloading equipment.

Funny you should mention that I'll be out there for Easter but can't stay there 10 days while it's in jail
