Glock 20 Opinions?

Hi all,

Thinking about purchasing a Glock 20. Any opinions? I know its a Glock so I figure it has to be great. Any advice to go with the standard or SF model? Any other info is appreciated! Thanks

I want to pick up a standard G20. 10mm is a great round but most factory ammo doesn't take advantage of it.

I have been considering one as well, although another option would be to get a 21 and buy a 10mm barrel and mags for it or maybe complete 10mm upper.

I agree with Bhobbs, 10mm is best utilized if you reload.

Pick them both up and see how they fit your grip. I have a 30sf and a 30. I think I like the sf just a bit better for my grip.

The "SF" is for slim frame or something like that. The grip is smaller, made for smaller hands.

No. G20 is considered a "large frame". It will be bigger than a 19.

The 20 is like the 21, large frame, thick slide, etc.

I have my eye out for a 20 (and 29) and have been kicking myself for not picking up on a 29 deal last year.

Yeah you need to try a 20 or 21, they feel completely different. I personally prefer the SF frame for those 2.

SF is "short frame", not slim. The front-to-back depth of the grip is reduced, and the corners are slightly more radiused. A 21sf feel to me close to a standard 17. Grab a 17; if that's too big, the 21st will be slightly bigger still.

I just picked up a Glock 20 SF to add to my collection and I happen to have very big hands and the SF felt better to me.

It felt less like a brick, but both the SF and regular frame fit my hands nicely.

Try both and see what you like but in my opinion if you have small or very small hands either the SF or standard version will be a big handful
and you may want to look at the compact version.

If you're going to buy a G20, make sure you start reloading. 99% of factory ammo is weak like the .40S&W.

I have big hands, so the standard G20 fits me well.

The neat thing about the G20 is being able to shoot 4 calibers out of the same gun.

I would get the SF (short frame) version since the non-SF is too big for me to shoot one-handed. The SF has 3mm shaved off the back, which doesn't seem like much, but makes it more comfortable for me. It also makes the gun point better for me. On the non-SF gun, my natural point of aim is a couple degrees higher.

I grabbed the SF model over the standard it just felt more comfortable in my hand, although lately, factory ammo seems watered down. You should definitely look at reloading.

The fit of the frame is a very subjective thing. I have large hands but prefer the SF frames (I have both the G21SF and the G20SF). A buddy of mine has smaller hands than I, but prefers his standard G20.

There are differences in the G20 and G21 slides, so buying a G21 and dropping a conversion 10mm barrel will not be an exact duplicate. The G21 slide is slightly lighter, so the slide velocity with hotter 10mm rounds will be higher. On the other hand, if you really start pushing some hot 10mm loads, you will want an aftermarket barrel (for case head support) and likely a 22lb recoil spring, so maybe the G21-10mm conversion is not a terrible idea.
