Yet another inter family transfer question

My mother (who lives in Idaho) is considering the purchase of a Wilson Combat Tactical Elite chambered in 9mm. This gun is not on the CA roster.

If after she bought it, she decided that she didn't like it, could she visit California and transfer it to me?

If so, what documentation is required to prove that she is my mother. We have different last names because she remarried.

    Thanks

    Yes, she could.

No doc needed. Same for transfer to your married sister - she would probably have a different married name.

A note saying for the FFL's records saying
'This fine Wilson Combat model 12345 is a gift for my son, Bert Gamble.
    /s/ Mom Gamble Newname"
    would be enough.

Thanks Librarian. I sure hope she doesn't like it.

I had a similar question but mine is for the mags, for what i read of the law If the mags are over 10 rounds you can't have them transferred to you. My grandfather passed away and left my dad a Berreta 92 fs with a 15 round mag, but my dad was going to give it to me the gun, can I keep the magazines?

I am now in contact with an Idaho FFL to help her place the order. Looks like it will be a long wait, but it should be worth it.

Anyone ever shot a 9mm Tactical Elite? It must have the recoil of a .22 LR.

No, your father can't give you the magazines now. It would only be legal if your dad gave you the 10+ magazines before January 1, 2000.

Hey Teflon, I love the grips on your avatar gun. Where did you get them?

Copy, but it is alright for him to have them right.

Legally, only if he got them before Jan 1, 2000.

I saw an answer on another thread that said that the family member can ship the gun to an in-state FFL. Can anyone verify this?

Since I know she will hate the gun and want to give it to me, shipping is much cheaper than a round trip plane ticket.

Yes she can ship to a FFL. You are correct a lot cheaper. The only issue is not all FFL will recieve a gun from out of state unless it is from a FFl so check with your receiving FFL

(or whatever the new PC is).

Bert will post photos of his cool 9MM...we will all drool.....you know, the standard stuff....hehehe

                          Be well, Bob
