please help me pick a handgun

hi, i'm looking for a handgun for ccw. i currently have a 5" xd45 and its pretty hefty to say the least. i've really been wanting a .357/.38 revolver but i really wouldnt mind having a semi auto either.

i'm kind of stuck between the .38 or .380, unless someone can give me a reason to get a .40 or. 45.
main reason i want a smaller caliber is because it would be easier control, and thats what you want for a ccw. at least thats my thinking.

is there anything i can find for <$450?

i've been looking in the FS section but can't find anything so i might hit the local store.

please let me know what you guys recommend.

    thank you.

Take a look at the Kahr CW line of pistols. Right about that price range, comes in 9mm, 40, and 45, and are eminently easily to conceal.

What about a 9mm like the glock 26? You can ccw that and its easier to control compared to the 40 or 45

The Ruger LCP looks very promising...

Ruger lcp my friend has one and loves it. SR9c, SR40c I almost went with one of the two but went with a glock 19.

              Glock 19 or 26?

Try different pistols and calibers to see what feels best to you and your skill level. As far as asking about what caliber; asking that here is like pouring gas on the caliber debate fire.

thanks for all the replies. i forgot to mention but i'm really not into Glocks, i know i might have to put my flame suit on but thats just how i feel.
the first one that came to my mind was actually the ruger lcp. can i find one in my price range?

and honestly i have no experience with the 10mm. is ammo easy to find? what caliber would you compare it to?

I researched quite a while before I purchased my glock 26. I really wanted the SR9C but had no luck finding one around town, the one I looked at sold. I got to check out the SR40C felt great too, something about the design, just fit my hand. My friend just bought the Ruger LC9, after researching decided to hold off due to the accuracy and trigger feel compared to the others. Not that it was a bad gun, just diddn't feel right. Not sure how similar the LCP is though. Good luck.

I pocket carry a SW 642 and its a nice cheap revolver. I definately prefer my Glock 23 but when it's hot the 642 works fine.

10mm a fairly hot round and is much less "controllable" than a 9mm.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II, which is a compact .45. Seems to work for me...Will be pricier than what you want, I think.
