    Walther P22 question

I bought a Walther P22 several years ago and had to send it back to Smith and Wesson to get the gun Kali compliant. I noticed the P22s are still for sale but are now compliant. Is there any difference in the new guns which makes it any better than my old Walther?

I shot it once before sending it back to S&W and it jammed alot with cheapie Federal ammo from Wally World. The gun has been in the safe since. Which ammo would you guys recommend?

Well there have been some changes with the p22 over time but I think most of them are magazine related. I think they are on thier 4th revision there.

I've also read about a new extractor being released but that it doesn't really do anything.

My P22 hates Federal too, but others love it. The ammo problems are just there. The only thing you can really do is polish the feed ramp to fix it.

But the CA p22 has a fixed barrel which eliminated the barrel unscrewing itself or having to locktite it on.

Thanks for the info. I forgot about Rimfire Central. I was not impressed with Smith when I got the gun back. It looks like some monkey with vise grips tightened a round piece of metal on the tip. There's two nasty marks on the tip. Thank god it's not visible unless the slide is locked back.

I had and early P22 and sold it out of state rather than lose the ability to switch between barrels (I had both).

I polished the feed ramp, ran a lot of rounds through it, and it would shoot anything faultlessly. Wally world ammo, federal, remington white box. everything.

HI-Velocity ammo is your answer. I find that Remington "Golden Bullet" works best in my P22s. CCI Stingers too work well.
