Two new purchases... poor quality picture, sorry.

Para Ordnance Tac-S Single-Stack LDA (yes, it's OD green ) and a Smith & Wesson 642-2. The 642-2 is not the titanium one that costs $400 more, weighs 3oz less, and fires .357 Magnums. This one just shoots .38+P's and weighs 15oz.

The Para is (after a substantial amount of testing) going to be my on-duty carry, and the S&W is my new backup / off duty when wearing super light clothing.

Sorry for the poor quality picture, used my camera phone because my batteries died in my camera.

Looks pretty nice, congrats on the purchase. How are you liking your Canadian gun?

That's sweet that you can carry the Para on duty!

The department allows it because technically it's a double action only. They won't allow me to carry a single action 1911, or I'd be carrying a Kimber.

I know the LDA works as DA if one were to lower the hammer, but couldn't the LDA Para's be carried with the hammer cocked and safety on, like a regular SA pistol? BTW, I've noticed most police agencies use DA or DAO guns like glocks, like Fremont's police. I'm getting the impression that a lot of police agencies don't think their officers are able to use a SA/DA pistols safely, irregardless of whether or not they can.

With the LDA, the hammer never stops at cocked, so you never need to lower it, and cannot carry it cocked and locked. Every trigger pull cocks and drops the hammer, and it rests in the "dropped" position.

So when the safety is up, the hammer is down.
