    M&P in Flat Dark Earth

Is the .45 the only dark earth gun legal in CA? I am interested in an FDE .40, but can't seem to find any. I see Cabellas has one, but they are not in CA. I've seen the VTAC listed at a few gun shops within a reasonable driving distance, but its not exactly what I want. And I don't feel like paying $750 for something that isn't what I want.

These are the two I keep seeing that I like.

I don't think I want it in .45, figure I will save that for a 1911. It seems like a few people may have used Duracoat on the black M&P frames? If that is the case, how well did the finish turn out? And will it last? I feel like it would be best to get the gun molded in that color for longevity sake.

I like the two tone one with a nickel plated slide too, but that seems to be a Cabellas only item as well.

A lot of people Duracoat their polymer guns. I almost did my M&P because I wanted an FDE one...but I think if I were to ever sell it, it would be worth less and from practice and heavy use it would be worn and that would bother me.... So I ended up putting grip tape on it for more functionality and called it a day.

That's really the one I want, but their website says its a Cabellas exclusive.

That's basically what I worry about, it wouldn't be as durable as a factory gun. So I would rather have one from the factory, molded in FDE, but it's not looking like I can get one.

I've been eyeing that Cabela's 'exclusive' FDE model as well. I chatted online with their CS and they say they will ship to an FLL if there isn't a store nearby.

If its not in the roster, try to get it through SSE.

I was just in the Reno Cabela's yesterday playing around with them. They really look nice in FDE. They had a few of them.

Thanks guys, I am going to go into my favorite gun shop and ask if they will order it or let me have it shipped to them. I really want this gun, I just don't think I want a 45. It feels light, and I'm worried about recoil. Plus I want my wife to have something to step up to when I get a 1911.

Try one at a local range. Or maybe meet up with another memeber and try theirs
