Springfield XD, Glock, M&P, all fine choices... all around the 500 price marker. XD has an essentials kit which runs around $430 ish.

Im not a huge 2022 fan, but I do like the Sigs.

If there is a range near you, try before you buy, and more important than what brand you buy... is it comfortable and does it fit your hand well. Everyone is different, and threads like this will yeild different answers.

It's DA/SA, so it is better than a Glock. Good first gun or only gun.

Try before you buy if possible.

Like he said ^^, if it's possible, try some before buying, because you may like the look but once you handled it it may not fit well with you.

Sigs are great, a glock would be pretty different

              Double action / Single action

if the hammer isnt cocked, pulling the trigger will cock the hammer first basically

Kinda like a revolver that defaults to the cocked position after each round

              I love DFA/SA guns

SA only guns would be like a 1911 or a cowboy revolver. the hammer has to be cocked to fire

You really want to at least handle the handguns before choosing to purchase. You want it to feel comfortable in your hand.

It would be even better if you got a chance to test fire them by renting it at a range or something.

My personal thought on this is that one isn't better or worse than the other, its two totally different system. Striker vs Hammer DA/SA

It really boils down to preference. I like striker-fire pistols.
