    Aguila ammo: Good/bad?

I saw this deal on sgammo:

Comes out to $.31 a round with shipping, for re loadable ammo. (I don't reload, but a friend of mine does so I save my brass and give it to him).

This is about the cheapest I've found, I've just never heard of Aguila ammo. A search on calguns did not reveal anything.

I'd like to know your guys opinion, especially if you have experience with this ammo. Its going to be shot through the SA 1911 Loaded I just bought.

Aguila is good stuff in my experience. I shot a lot of it in .22lr, 9mm, .40s&w, and .45acp without any problems.

I've shot a LOT of Aguila ammo in 22 lr and 9mm over the years---ZERO problems---used to be able to get it (9mm) shipped to my door for $105 a case of 1000---no more!

Shot a case of 9mm and 45acp. No problems. Best value.

FYI -- sgammo started with 100 cases of 45acp over the weekend. Now down to 16.

Buy it. Just bought 23 boxes (3 more boxes cost an additional $1 shipping).

I shoot their .30 carbine ammo regularly--never had a problem.

Aquila ammo is from Mexico. I used .22lr HV Interceptor 40gr solid core in my Beretta Bobcat. Never a problem.

Aguila is known (in the circles I move in) for its specialty rimfire ammo. I'm suprised you didn't get any hits out of a forum search, this stuff gets mentioned alot.

                  Crap.

I bought 500 rounds of Aguila .40sw and had around 8 failure to fire due to the weak primer, double tap was required. Plus it was a little dirtier than other bulk factory fmj ammo

I bought a 1k round case of .45 Aguila a while back, and shot about 700-800 rounds of it so far.

I've had 2-3 dented cases that had a little trouble chambering (mainly from new shooters 'riding the slide' a bit and causing a week chambering action), but fired fine once seated.

A couple weeks ago I had one round that was a solid strike on the primer but no detonation. The person shooting my gun at the time unchambered the round and handed it to me asking what the issue was. As soon as I saw the primer strike, fearing a possible hangfire I threw it down range behind a rock face immediately (BLM area). I didn't check on it later to see any more of the condition of that particular round.

All in all, I'd gladly buy another case. The chambering issues were user error, so I only had one real issue, the detonation failure above. It's plenty accurate for my shooting capability.

I've shot thousands of Aguila in .45ACP and still have about 3k of it. A little dirty, (not as bad as Wolf) but otherwise good stuff. I've used lots of their .22lr ammo as well. Standard velo, sub-sonic, and match. Better than dirty Remington. Buy it. You'll be fine.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be picking up 1000 rounds from a calgunner locally tomorrow.

Shot it in .22lr, it was quality. Can't speak on anything else though

I've shot a lot of 9mm - I like the case cannelure as it prevents any worry of bullet setback. Only the 9mm cases are cannelured though. It's always been reliable and low(er) flash for me in 9mm and .40. I just shot a few hundred rounds of .45 out of 2 different 1911s (both with stock height ejection ports) and the brass was being badly dented upon ejection by being pushed into the bottom edge of the port. Both guns ran 100% but it's a disconcerting side effect. The brass must be softer/thinner than average.

                              +1 for Aguila.

Shot through 4-5 cases of 9mm and 45. Have 3 more coming. Have one of their 223 haven't shot it.

Truly amazing was the 220 cases of 9mm 124gr FMJ selling out in less than a day last week.
