    Springfield XD accessories?

I just purchased a SpringfieldXD 9mm 4in barrel this past saturday at the sacramento gun show..so paper work got submitted on monday now im into my 10 day waiting period. But I have a couple questions:

1.Best place locally OR online to purchase a laser sight?
2.Best place locally OR online to purchase a tactical light?
3.Any thing special I need to mount either of these on my hangun?

also am I correct with my math if my paper work was submitted on Mon 3/5 , I should be able to pick up my gun on Wed 3/14 correct? or is it 10 "buisness" days?

        Here is mine XD-9
        - Trijicon night sight (my other XD has Truglo TFO)
        - TLR-3 tactical light
        - Springer Precision Trigger kit (which change from factory 2-stage 6.5 lb to single stage 4.5lb)
        - Bar Sto match barrel (not necessary item, only got it for fun)

be aware if you do get CCW, you will need a holster that fit with the light.

You could get most of above items from Springer Precision website.

My xd (3 inch, not 4, but still) is wearing a crimson trace laser I picked up from optics planet. It's light, easy to see the dot, and doesn't require a lot of training to figure out how to turn it on in case of emergency. As for a light I'm carrying a hand held one from stream light, since I don't want a lot of stuff hanging from my gun. FWIW finding a holster designed for a laser/light on your gun can be hard sometimes.

The only accessories you need are more mags and lots of bullets! Maybe a holster, if you want a different one than most come with. Thats about it.

I have the same gun. I went with dawson precision sights. The rear is serrated black with a fiber optic front. Great sight picture. I then installed a basic powder river trigger kit. This removed most of the take up and shortened the reset. It really improved the trigger pull and isn't that hard to install. If you are looking for a basic holster I have the uncle mike's injection molded. It comes with both a paddle and belt loops so you can wear it either way. This holster isn't for a light. The tension is adjustable and the gun clicks into place when you put it in the holster. You can find them on ebay for around $25 shipped. These are just things I have done to my gun and they are working for me.

They are for quality ones. I strongly recommend the Streamlight light/laser combos.

As for things you "need," I would say that the only thing you should consider pretty quickly is a trigger kit fro Springer or Powder River. The XD factory trigger isn't the worst that you'll ever feel, but these triggers kits make it feel damn good.

                  Otherwise...

                  - Sights - factory are fine for basic range work. You might consider night sights, but these are made superfluous by a weapon light. Good sights like Heinies are nice, but not an immediate must.

                  - Match barrel - honestly, the factory barrel is accurate enough for 98% of shooters

Only other thing I would immediately consider is a grip tape solution like DecalGrip. Not a necessity for plain range shooting, but very, very helpful if you ever anticipate using your gun when your hands are wet/sweaty.

While expensive I threw a Viridian XL5 on my XD and love it. worth the investment plus can move to different weapons as I purchase them.

Thanks for the info guys. Sights and/or laser are higher on my list. Im fairly new to handguns as this is the first one that I have owned personally so I may just shoot it and go from there once I get a better feel for it. Im not terribly concerned with a holster as I dont really plan on ever carrying on my side..but who knows that may change.

I recommend getting a tac light before a laser, more important to see what you're aiming at if you need to use it at night imo.

Shoot first, and get accessories later!

I got my Streamlight TLR-1s on Cyber Monday last year, it retails about $110 or so, but it was on sale for only $79 through Midway.

Did not want to do a Laser unless the Laser came with frickin' Sharks. Surefire is coming out with a new weaponlight with laser, so the older models might become cheaper (x300). Streamlight came out with a new polymer LED light and laser combo and it should complement the TLR-3 which also polymer (and no laser) and should be cheap.
