The answer to the question "Why are Glocks safer" is so obvious I'm surprised no one has mentioned it.

First, they're called "Safe Action Pistols." So they must be safe or else they wouldn't be called that.

Second, Glocks tend to shoot their owners in the legs, rather than in more vital body parts. I mean, you never hear of "Glock Head," right? By limiting their owner-targeting to extremities, Glocks show admirable discretion and reserve. A less safe pistol might aim for the heart.

    At least, that's my understanding.

I carry a G21 and 1911 C&L-ed with one in the chamber...and neither has ever gone off unless I've wanted it too!

I agree completely, but in Glock's defense, a LOT of LEO's get issued them, who are NOT "gun people," and routinely do things so stupid stuff with firearms, they they could probably figure out a way to AD/ND with a blue training gun.

Keeping ye olde boogerhook OFF the trigger (it AIN'T a 'grabhandle!!!') UNLESS firing at a known target, is the most common violation of practical gun safety. A mechanical safety CAN save your bacon a time or two on that account, but the BIGGEST safety with ANY firearm, is the one between your ears. If IT'S not engaged at ALL TIMES, you TOO can find a way to AD/ND in spite of EVERY mechanical safety.

You can put a million safety features in a mechanical object, but it will fail if the operator fails. How often do you hear about drivers stepping on the gas when they meant to stop the car? How many people forget to unplug a simple coffee maker? We can go on and on with examples. You could be sitting and thinking how dumb my post is, because you'll never confuse yourself when it comes to your favorite handgun. But when he'll is breaking loose will you have the same calm and collective mind?

it all comes down to personall choice. no one here can tell anybody how they should carry a pistol that they are uncomfortable with.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

again if you cant KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER you are asking for trouble with any gun you own. why blame the gun for your own stupidity the amount of glock FUD in this thread could drown a giraffe

Good one! Reminds me of the cellphone conundrum. We fear brain cancer, so we move the phone from the head to the waist. We then use Bluetooth and put it back on the head, but now we got two radiation sources, one back on the "thinking organ" and the other near our "reproductive organs."

Let's face it, those are both thinking organs ... for men anyway.
