First Glock and question about different sights

Just picked up my LE trade in G22 today and put about 300 rounds through it. Awesome pistol but the night sites don't really glow at all in the dark. The white/green in them are faded into a yellowish/brown color and its VERY hard to focus them at all. What are some good site upgrades that are popular among Glock owners?

What is the proper sight picture for Glocks, is it pumpkin on a post or do you put the bead over center of target?

I have sent several slides into glock. I had the glock night sight front and OEM metal rear on my G22 and it worked well only because I have a difficult time picking up three dot night sights. On my 19 I have steel OEM front and rear sights.

Running Heine 8's here. I like them as they're fairly simple and straightforward. I have the version with the slanted rear. If you were to get them I would get the rear with the ledge. Almost impossible to catch the rear on your belt, shoe, etc. Only really applies to having to rack the slide one handed, but an annoyance none the less.

As for the sight picture, the height of your front sight dictates whether you should do a 6 o'clock hold or just hold straight.

I like the Heine straight 8's to but I really like trijicon HD's also since the front sight is very bright in the day time.

True it comes down to personal preference when it comes to night sights. In the daytime I don't really care if the tritium is illuminated or not. My eye is just drawn to the contrast black/white. Plus on the Heine's the dots are rather small compared to some of the 3 dot varieties out there. In low light they're bright enough. However in low/no light situations I prefer to have a dedicated weapons light. Simply because I want to know what I'm shooting at.

Granted .00000000000001% of us will ever have to use our weapon in that role. However if it did come down to that I want to know what's at the business end of my weapon.

I've got the stock night sights on mine and I like the three dot configuration better than the ball-in-cup style. I don't know which sights are better but mine are fine.

I try to line up the top of the front with the two in back and put the front sight over the spot I want to hit. I'm not a very good shot because my hands shake so bad but when I get lucky it hits right where I put that front sight. I think this is a common practice on most "combat" pistols.

                  Can you elaborate.

I quoted the above statement because this is what I do. I shot my XD tactical and HK USP with top of rear aligned with top of front ---> center of mass. I had night sights put in by a local gunsmith. I know, and the gunsmith commented, how hard it is to remove and install sights on Xd and HKs. After gunsmith installed the night sights...it shoots with a 6 O'clock sight ailment, which I don't like because it seems unnatural to center if mass sight alignment. My brother verified my suspicion. Appears the sight was grinded down too much. I am positive it was center of mass sight alignments, but gun smith returned them with 6 O'clock sight alignment.

I'd love to put night sights on 3 M&PS, an HK P2000, and Glock 17 (all shoot with center of mass), but too fearful that sight alignment might change.

Trijicons and mepros are the way to go.

Dawsons, xs big dot, and heine 8's are also good just slightly different. Night sights do come in handy.

You dont focus on the dots, they are there for your peripheral vision. Focus on the top of the front site so it is sharp like the above picture. That said, Trijicon will replace the lamps for $18 each if you send the slide in.

I really like the TruGlo TFO's also. They work great both indoors and out. They are really easy to see.

It looks like they're OEM Glock sites. Glock will replace them if they're bad? I tried snapping a pic of them.

If you just want 3-dot night sights then letting Glock replace them for free is the way to go. The only fly in the ointment is the cost of shipping the gun back to them. Now if you only have to ship the slide then it is a no brainier.

I will say that replacing the sights on Glocks is very easy to do, if you felt like trying different sites. All four of my Glocks have different sights that I installed. When I decided to put TFOs on my XDm and starting researching it and came acrose a vid of some guy using a air hammer to remove the stock front sight. I said oh hell no. I sent my XDm slide to XD-HS2000.COM. If you buy the sights from them ( not over priced) and send them your slide only they will install for free and ship back. My turn around time was less then two weeks, they will do Glocks , M&PS you name it not just XDs. They also have a section of their site that has a write up on most of the popular sights out today. Worth a look.

Best sights for the Glock pistols are the Warren Tactical. I have them in all three of my Glocks. Fiber optic in two and for my duty weapon, night sight on front post only.

Best place to buy them is here.
