Opinions on some .45 ACP ammo?

    Hi all:

I have a good deal lined up on some bulk .45 ACP ammo, brand new, factory fresh, it is the Aguila 230 grain .45 ACP. 1,000 rounds for $289.00.

I know this is a good deal but I don't know if this brand of ammo is decent? It says the brass is reloadable though and the price is certainly right.

Opinions? Know of any better deals on better brands? I have been paying this much for bulk Miwall reloads, which have been fine but I would rather have new factory fresh loads for the same price.

A friend and I burned through a couple of thousand rounds during a 5 day class recently. It shot fine, was clean burning and accurate enough for training. I don't think the case of PMC I brought was $50 better for that use

Thanks 9mm. I think I will order a case and see how it works. Honestly, I am not that picky, I am not a hardcore competition shooter, I just like to plink and have fun. If it cycles, I can recycle the brass for reloading (someday) and it is reasonably accurate, I am happy.

      Thanks,

Did a google search previously on Aguila and didn't find any complaints.

Went through a case of 9mm and it was fine.

Gone through about 6 boxes of 45ACP without a problem.

The only negative -- Aguila packs their boxes with trays that are larger than average, so it takes more space in your range bag / ammo boxes.

NOTE: on sgammo, play with your cart by padding extra boxes and see what the most effective shipping fees are (in this case, you can add 3 more boxes for $1 additional shipping charge). Gotta love sgammo.

You guessed correctly! I will try your tip about the shipping.

          Thanks,

Sgammo will also repackage into ammo cans.

if you reload why would you order factory ammo at 28cents/round when you can reload for half that?

Well, the thing is, I don't reload yet but I am looking toward the future when I will reload, I want to start saving brass. From what I have been able to divine from others here, reloading is pretty time consuming and I don't have much free time. But daughter is leaving for college, son is getting older and more self sufficient, wife is into her gardening so I see a full reloading setup in my near future.
