    Crushed ammo??

I just received a box of Remington UMC .45 ACP from Brownell's and a bunch of the bullets look like they've been pushed down into the brass.

The picture shows some of the more normal looking rounds next to some of the "crushed" rounds.

Is this stuff still safe to shoot or should i send it back for a refund? Has anyone else ordered ammo from Brownell's and had it show up like this?

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

I'd call brownells and let them know. I would hope they make it right, don't know if you can return them, but I sure wouldn't shoot them.

Pressure on the squeezed down rounds could be too high for your gun. Don't shoot them.

This happened before with other member.
Other member contacted UMC and they replaced ammo if I recall.
I believe it was manufacturing issue.

Wow that sucks. I'm sure Brownells will make it right. I've had nothing but bad experiences with Rem ammo.

Had same issue with UMC 9mm ammo. Been shooting federal for plinking ammo now.

+1. Same issue here. That is unsafe to shoot.

Dunno what it is about Remington but all of their plinking ammo is total ****... and it's usually more expensive than the other brands too.

If you're SOL and they don't take it back, you could probably get away with using a kinetic bullet puller to pull them back out to spec (tap lightly). Then feed them through a crimping die to clamp the necks properly.

But at that point, might as well just reload empty brass :P

walmart sells this ammo (Remington UMC yellow box) if you ever buy from walmart make sure you check the ammo before you purchase. I've heard range stories about UMC ammo and they werent so good.

I had some ammo like that way back when I first started shooting. I didn't know any better at the time and just went ahead and shot it anyway. I didn't have any issues, but knowing that even minimal seating depths of the bullet can greatly increase the pressure, I wouldn't do it again.

                        Send it back!

This is a very common problem with Remington UMC, because of the way they package them it is always a crap shoot.

This is why I trust my reloads over factory ammo.

What does an improperly adjusted seating die have to do with packaging?

I will no longer buy Yellow Box UMC or Winchester USA ammo because of poor quality. I have good luck with comparable priced PMC, Blazer Brass, Mag-Tech, Sellier & Bellot, Aguila, Fioccohi American Eagle and Green Box UMC.

I would return it to Brownells.
