I am about to buy a G17. I am looking at a Gen 2 and a Gen 3. Are there any mechanical differences between the two? Is a Gen 3 worth the extra cash?

frame is the only thing thats differen't all the guts are the same. -
Any other differences are there in the frame besides the finger grooves?Comment

If you looking for a light rail, 3rd gen would be a better investment. Past that, there is no real differences that you would notice.Comment

finger groves and light rail. its a shame that the gen 2.5 had no light rail and finger groves. I'd like light rail and no finger groves. I think it would look silly to dremel them off and I think the stipiling jobs look nasty. I guess the only solution for me is to dremel em off and cover it with an agripComment

Most (early Gen 3 g17's had only the trigger pin) Gen 3 have a locking block pin and a trigger pin, Gen 2 have only the trigger pin...
