    HK2000sk rental

I rented an HK2000sk in .40 today to see if I would like to own one. I actually was hoping for the full sized, but they only had the compact.

My first impression was not a good one. The double action trigger is, in my opinion, terrible! Super long, heavy pull that breaks so far to the rear I had to completely rearrange which part of my finger I used to pull it(knuckle) then switch back to the pad for single action. My first shot didn't even make the paper at 21 feet. I don't remember the last time that happened.

Single action wasn't as bad, though still quirky feeling to me. I'm used to Sigs an this was definitely different. After a number of mags, I was getting the hang of it, but not thrilled like I had hoped. To test how much I had adapted after 45 rounds, I sent the last 5 all double action. 4 out of 5 went into the 10 box and the last in the 9 box, so I could certainly learn to shoot it if I had one.

I'm clear that you can't judge the fullness of a pistol in 50 rounds, but you can get a decent impression and a gut like or dislike. What I took away was that I would not buy the sk model, it didn't fit quite right in my hand. I would still like to try the full sized. I think that range has a full sized in 9mm. Not the chambering I'd buy, but at least I'd get to see if the frame worked better for me. I want to like HK pistols, but so far, I haven't found one that "fits like a glove".

HK can't provide a smooth DA trigger pull on their pistols if their life depended on it. SA is usually heavy also, but pretty clean. But overall they're good guns, but the price they demand is pretty high also.

    It's a quality product though.

I've had the exact same experience also. I've passed on a slightly used P2sk for $500 and stuck with Glocks. Love the Glock trigger reset!

I actually had a P7M8 for a while, but sold it. I bought it used and obviously abused so I wasn't overly sad to see it go. If it had been in better shape, I would have kept it. For my money, they aren't worth the going prices. If I found one in the price range I'd actually pay, it'd probably be as beat up as the one I had.

I had my G23 with me today and shot it right after the HK. Between just shooting a standard DA gun and the new 3.5lbs trigger bar, I had to relearn how to shoot the dang Glock!
That 3.5lbs bar feels quite different with live ammo than it does in dry fire practice. As in really light. Almost scary light. I wouldn't want one in a carry or HD gun, but that's just me. I might change my tune once I get used to it.

The USP/P2000 are combat pistols. They were designed to function in harsh environments and provide reliability.

The DA pull will smooth out over time if you shoot/dry-fire it enough.

This was a rental gun, I'm sure it's been shot plenty and still felt bad to me.

I'm sure it's more of what I'm used to. I'll have to try it out again a few times before I commit to buying one.

I carry a 9mm P2000 and a P2000sk with the LEM and am more than happy with them. The trigger is indeed different than any of my other guns and you really need to commit to them but once you do I can assure you that that are more than capable firearms.

                      What's the LEM?

I have zero doubt about their capability, which is why I want one and keep trying out different models hoping to find one that works for me.
There's gotta be one out there for me
