His name on GunBroker isn't RedDogAlaskan, is it???

Find someone else who has a 1911 and ask if you can
    try their mag.

No that wasn't his name. And actually, I got a guy that has a Springfield and he's gonna try out one of the mags to see if it fits his. I'm gonna ask him to bring me one of his if the Colt mags fit his Springfield.

Wilson 47D's are on sale right now at Midway

I have some "Colt 45" mags that I got for $3.50 each (I got 10 for the hell of it) [edit: they are 7 rounders]. They are kind of crapy and I have some last round feed problems with some of them...but for that price who cares. I finally #'d them to see exactly what mags I am having problems with so I can tweek the bad ones to work like the good ones.

Funny thing is they aren't all that much worse than my factory Kimber mag

They sound like the cheapo mags that you can find at gunshows for around 5$ a piece. I bought some that said colt on the bottom but would not feed properly at all. Chucked those out.

Buy a wilson or a chip mccormick power mag (make sure its a power mag), those should work well.

My buddy that has the Springfield had no problem with one of my mags, so that's a little upsetting. I'm gonna try a couple of his mags just for giggles. It just seems odd that the mag that came with the gun fits perfect, but other government spec mags don't. It's not like that custom made the mag for the gun. Does anyone out there have a link for RIA, I couldn't find andything searching google. I'd like to just try and get some mags directly from RIA if possible. Again, all the responses are great, thanks for helping the newb.

Personally speaking, why not just take it to a local gun dealer and ask for mags that fit this gun? Seems alot easier than buying sight and tried unseen over the internet. An experienced dealer could probably spot any abnormality within seconds. Just trying to help is all.

I dont think you're going to have much luck finding a website for them. Rock Islands are made in the phillipines. I think they are a sister company to Armscorp., which doesnt have a website either.

Have you looked inside the magwell by the way? Maybe one of the grip screws are binding the other mags....

I took the grips off and had the same difficulty. But last night, I went to a local shop and picked up a Wilson 47D and it works perfectly. Thanks to everyone that helped.
