For all of you who shoot the fn 57 pistol....

first off- i have a couple of 5.7's. awesome guns. but heads up
Over at the Kifaru forum, “Fairchase” wrote that his FN Five-Seven fired a round out of battery, blowing it up and doing severe damage to his hand and thumb.
Iam a good shot. At least i think i would be. Iam a good free throw shooter.

Wow that thing went nuclear didn't it. Hate to see people hurt by random kabooms. I hope his hand is ok.

I stand corrected. Interested to see how FNH handles this.

              THIS^^^

reading some of the handloading forums on this round (last year) you have too many variables.

              Be well, Bob

The last time this happened, it was a kid who double charged a handload on accident. Two kabooms I have heard of...both from handloads. So what really is the issue here? (not directed toward you, just making a point in general)

This is a gun based site with a handgun sub forum. Seems relevant. Breaks up the monotony of "which 9mm" or "glock or m&p" all the time. I shoot the 5.7 round (pistol/suppressed ps90) and i thought it was of interest to others who may or may not shoot it as well.

Subscribed. I too have a FN FiveseveN. Have only about 500 rnds through mine, using ss197 blue tip 4gr. No issues so far. Are these guys reloading? Kaboom from reloads?

I wasn't questioning the relevancy of the thread.

based on the surgery photo, this unfortunate gentleman used a thumbs forward hold with his support left hand, so his palm was right around and below the breech area.

A side note, a kaboom in a plastic gun is always like a grenade explosion,

last round of a 30 round mag loaded with the factory 40gr v-max stuff.
So, not reloads, supposedly. The shooter says he has been on the horn with FN. I bet THEY have been on the horn with the ammo manufacturer.
