how do i break down this 1911?!?

im new to 1911's and got this one from a friend. Its a colt frame from 1974 with an sti slide. Its a 38 super. Ive watched several videos on how to break down a 1911. Its not working for me. The very center piece will not go down to allow the barrel bushing to rotate. I dont know what else to do. Here are some pics

It's 2 piece full length guide rod, you have to use an allen key to remove the first half of the guide rod. then it can be diassembled. go to the springfield website and look in their 1911 owners maual, look under trp disassembly and you will see an example.

      Wow, must be built tight
Might need a barrel bushing wrench.

Since you have the slide off already, try pulling back in the recoil spring, see if that helps.

Yes, need to take the piece 1 out first.

Unscrew the guide rod with an allen key first and pull it out. Then push down and rotate the barrel bushing.

Try disassembling it like a Springfield Loaded 1911 model see if that works.

Sorry if this is a newby question, but how do you remove the slide from the frame without removing the plug and slide stop?

You can't remove the slide from the frame without removing the slide stop.
