New SA Trophy Match - Range Report

About 10 days ago i posted a thread on choosing between a SA Trophy Match and a S&W 1911. From recomendations of members here and the fit in my hand I chose the SA for my first 1911 pistol.
    Here she is:

Fit and finish on the gun was perfect. The slide was tight but operated smoothly.

The checking of the front and rear strap is a bit sharp as others have reported but not so much that it hurt the hand to squeeze. Certainly do not have to worry about slipping fingers on the grip

We spent some time getting to know each other today, first a break down and cleaning and then off to the range. I was shooting Winchester 230g FMJ and PMC 230g FMJ rounds. 250 rounds of each. I did not have a single issue with feeds or jams for this 500 rounds of ammo. Perfect operation of the pistol!

The gun seemed to shoot better and better with every magazine that went through it. Maybe me getting used to it and maybe some breaking in? Not sure but probably some of each.

By the end of the session I was laying out some pretty good groups. These are shot @ 10 Yards. Seven shots into each diamond. A few flyers that were my fault but all in all I am VERY pleased with this gun.

Like I've read on here before the gun shoots better than I do.......Thanks to the members that responded in my question about this gun. I am looking forward to many many years of service from it.

Now the question is....what will the next gun be?? Man this is addictive!

Congratulations, and nice range report (and shooting). She's definitely a "keeper".

Those Trophy Matches are really nice pistols, having all the features I like in 1911's (although I prefer short triggers) and having adjustable sights makes them easy to dial in for accuracy as range guns versus pushing rear sights around and changing out front sight heights. I'd like to pick up a Trophy Match long slide sometime just for fun if I can find a good used one.

Very nice groups. Were you standing or resting on something?

Did you get the ILS removed and have a trigger job. I'm betting those groups will shrink further if you get a target grade trigger job. Congrats on a very nice pistol.

                      Congrats on the SA, OP!!

In pic three, I see the little ILS hole on his MSH. That being said, here's some good instructions on how to remove it (if one wishes)....I am still debating on removing mine. Looks like ~30 bucks in parts, which includes new MSH.

Replacing and Modifying the ILS Mainspring housing in a 1911 Springfield Loaded. There is a lot of info out there on this subject and I wanted to update and consolidate that info into one easy to use place. First let me start by saying, there are many combinations of parts that will work -...

Mine cost only a little bit of time. It is easy to change to a new MSH, but the one he's got has a magwell attached. Maybe worth plugging ang chasing the checkering.

The gun is bone stock. With good hand loads I am hoping to tighten the groups up as well.

Thanks for the congrats, and thanks for that link on the removal of the ILS. Being a newbie to the 1911 I am not sure what removing the ILS will do except lighten the trigger pull. It already seems very light and smooth. This is advertised as having a 4.5-5lb trigger pull, not sure what it is exactly. I would be a bit concerned with a lighter pull for me as I have very limited feeling in my fingers due to some severe median nerve damage.

Would like to read and learn more about this though.....
