Short answer is no, since both cartridges headspace off the case mouth and the .380acp case is shorter. You could fire .38acp in a 38 super, but it probably wouldnt cycle .

Try putting a .380 into the barrel removed(of course). You'll see that it goes in far to much for the firing pin to hit the primer.

Here are crappy camera phone pictures:

I have read a few early 80's gun magazine articles with the writer shooting 9mm through a 38 super 1911. I probably wouldn't do it but it has been done before and will probably work.

.38 Super can be found at most gun shops, but it is pricey. Wild Bill's in Elk Grove has some in stock, but I have no idea where you are. If you like the gun, pick up a 9mm barrel and mags for it so it can be shot cheaper, but still be able to switch back to Super when extra power is needed/wanted.

9mm conversion barrel, diff mags. Problem solved.

ammunitiontogo.com has .38 super as low as 17.95 per box of 50. Nachez shooters supply, Abel Ammo and others on line have it also.

For me it's easier to order it online than shlep it home from the store. I always keep at least 2000 rounds on hand just in case theirs a run on ammo it becomes hard to get.
