I just got a traffic ticket yesterday and I am going to dros a gun next Thursday. Does a traffic ticket has a negative effect on a background check?

As long as we are just talking one ticket then no, it should not have any effect.

If we are talking enough points to get your license suspended and/or revoked, then yes it can, as the license is no longer a valid ID, and you would need to use a CA ID card instead of the license.
