    SIG 1911 upgrades

Does having a handgun in jail always make you want to spend more money????

I was just wondering if there are any modifications that are a must have for 1911's. The gun will be used for home defense and target shooting. I haven't picked up any extras for it other than a CMC 10 rounder.

Been looking at add ons like a magwell, Wilson Combat Shok Buff, and VZ grips. I probably need to just leave it alone for awhile, but my upgraditis can get the better of me sometimes!!!

Only upgrade you need is VZ grip if you want more aggressive grip. Other than that, keep it stock. I have Ed brown firing pin and Wilson Combat extractor for just in case situation spare part, but everything in my1911 is bone stock.

I have a sig 1911xo and honestly Sig 1911's have the worst trigger i've ever felt. I had mine replaced with a polymer STI trigger and a nice trigger job. Tom at FirePower Depot in Riverside did it and it's awesome. He also worked on the ramp and replaced all the springs. Now it is my favorite 1911.

        Ammunition and good magazines.

Extra magazines are always good. I tested all the popular ones from Wilson, Checkmate, Metalform, McCormick, and Tripp. I stocked up on the Tripp Cobra 8 rounders and the Metalform 7 rounders since they perform great in all my 1911s.

Shoot it first. Then decide what needs upgrading. Don't upgrade stuff just for the sake of upgrading. Congrats on the new gun btw!

Avoid the Shok Buff...it impedes rearward travel when racking the slide manually

Agree, I just got the TTT myself and for me, there is really nothing that needs to be upgraded on this fine pistol.

Probably the simplest and easiest mod is changing grips but if you like the stock ones, why change? If you don't there are tons of options.

Also agree with spending money on mags and ammo first.

                    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Are the factory SIG mags that bad? I've seen a few posts with people having issues with them. So far, I have the 2 factory mags and a CMC 10rd. Maybe pick up a couple Wilson Combat mags when I get it out of jail.

                      Only for p226 10 rounders.

                      1911 mags should be fine

Wouldn't change a thing. Spend your money on mags and ammo. If you find something about it you want to change, do it. You may find it's perfect as is.

                        That's a real beauty.

I'm going to guess your 10 round CMC mag won't run well...

Please let us known after you've had a chance to go to the range.

forget the shock buff. it doesn't need it

for the other stuff, put a thousand rounds through it and then decide
