springfield 1911 GI VS MIL SPEC LOADED

So i have been wanting a 1911 for a long time and have heard about feed problems and such with Springfield I was looking at the gi and now the mil spec loaded. which has

"beveled magazine well, polished feed ramp and throated barrel, lower and flared ejection port and angled slide serrations. "

I can get the gi for 456.00 and the loaded for 525.00 for active mil. discount. I was wondering how much the above difference would cost to have a gunsmith do? would it be cheaper to get the gi and have mods done or get the loaded?

this will be my primary or #1 on ccw once im stateside and everything has been processed. I love shooting the 1911 but didnt know about the mag and ejection port height causing problems and this is big for me since I pray I never have use it. OR should i cough of 1k plus and buy a hi end 1911 like colt? I have a SA 9MM 4INCH XD but Im getting a glock 17 next I like the feel and for some reason i can get better groupings.

thanks sorry for the long questions.

It would be far cheaper to simply get the Loaded model. With regard to feeding problems with production pistols, the Springfield Custom Shop will address any warranty concerns, assuming you have one.

A year ago I was in your same situation, I went with the Mil Spec model and after 300 or so rounds through it I have had zero problems.

        Oh sorry forget to clarify!

Got few months on deployment before im stateside. havent had feed issues only shot renters at a local range but after couple wks or research found out the gi was prone to feed issues, weak spring for the slide and just some small consistency issues. I almost baught a 1911 by colt from a gun show but i was way under educated. didnt even know about 1911, m1911 or the whole 1911 a1 stuff but it felt amazing. just some fairly old guy that wouldn't budge on price.

        thanks for your input.

$525 for the Mil Spec Loaded would be money well spent for a CCW pistol.

If I were you, I'll get the Milspec and shoot few hundred rounds. Then you can decide if you want to ad/mods the pistol and SA Custom Shop is one of the best in the business for the make over.

While the GI is a great gun, I just think you'd be better off getting the Loaded. Just like SOCOM1 said, you'd probably end up spending less money.

Well so far good input guys thanks alot I plan on using it for my protection so I figured most guns take a few hundred plus to get broken in But I just want it to last a long time so I was confused if a hi end colt would be better but I watched a few videows and a guy flayout threw his gi in the swampy mud, fired then let it dry for 20 min and fired again. anyone have over 3k+ rounds thru the gi or mil-spec loaded?

Yes and its a real "mantaince nightmare" when you get to this point...

You have to clean it and you might want to change the springs...or you could just clean it and wait a couple of thousand more rounds for the spring replacement.

There are folks on this sight who could to add several zeros to 3k rounds thru a 1911 without even considering the gun "used" yet.

If I'm not mistaken, there is the GI, then a step up is the Mil-Spec, and a step (or two) up from there is the Loaded. I think Mil-Spec and Loaded are two different models.

I bought the Loaded 'cuz it already has a lot of the features that people would add to the GI or Mil-Spec as upgrades, and probably end up costing more.

I love my Loaded, but unfortunately I don't get to shoot as much as I'd like so it's barely even broken in yet. (Buying my new CZ SP-01 didn't help)

If you can in fact get the Loaded for $525 I'd recommend getting as many as you can get at that price, 'cuz that's about a $300-$350 discount.

I think I paid about $850 for mine, plus tax, dros, etc.

                      Thanks for your service.

You will love 1911 & the Milspec won't be your only 1911 later on

Stay safe & thank you for your service!

Correct; there is no such thing as a Mil-Spec Loaded.

The GI model has been discontinued.
Any idea bout this? Seems the GI model is missing from the line-up on Springer's website. Has it been dropped?
