What is with the prices in Trade Forums?

I have been lookig in the trade forums. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but just about every modern gun listed is offered for sale at about the price you can get a new one from your local shop or mail order and, it has not had less than 1000 or 2000 rounds through it. Has it gotten that bad in Calif or am I missing something?

People just trying to recuperate. A lot of people think they should count the Tax and DROS that they paid in the price.

It's like asking, " Why do people want me to give away my guns for 30 -40% below internet prices?" " Do they think I'm that desperate for cash?"

The knife cuts both ways. If the price is out of line in your opinion your free to not buy, as many people point out you can find them cheaper online so just feel free to buy it and let the Gouger sit.

take the Keltec shotgun, the guy is asking $1600 i believe, not in my ballpark, but given the scarcity of the gun someone might meet his price. No need to crap all over his thread and make disparaging remarks about the guy. Just shake your head, and move on.

It doesn't matter what price you post people will still try and talk you down I posted a M1A that was almost brand new for a grand for a quick sale and people were sending me offers for 700.

Not to mention tax is an issue it does include the cost of the gun try ordering a gun online now days you have to pay tax right there at your FFL that 2k dollar gun now costs at or over $2300 after transfer fees.

Ed, I agree with what you said. I was taught not to say anything if I do not have something nice to say. however, last time I shopped for just about anything, the used was priced less than the new. Asking for a higher price than one knows the store sells it for and hoping that someone falls for it just does not seem right to me (just my opinion). I do machining work as a side job/hobby. Often, work is brought to me for repair. I will always tell the guy if I know he can go around the corner and buy the same thing for half the price he has to pay for machine shop rates to make a one of. What do I know, I am from the midwest.

Highlighted in red. Why *****? If you can get it cheaper elsewhere why piss yourself and the seller off by complaining about their price. Just go elsewhere and save yourself money. Keep in mind that when you buy online you are going to be paying shipping, plus tax on any shipped in new gun purchase, plus whatever your FFL wants to charge you on top of that, plus $25 for DROS, vs. their price +$35 for PPT.

"Moms Demand Action" sounds less like a gun control group and more like the title of a porn flick from the mid-90s.

The person selling whatever the item maybe might not know that it is available somewhere else new for cheaper. It may have been something they bought a while ago and prices have dropped recently. I've seen several ad where someone is selling a used item for more than what can be had for new. There is also the demand side of it. You may be able to google a lower price but then when you click on the link, its sold out. I'm starting to think stores are listing ridiculously low prices for things they don't have in stock to put pressure on competitors haha.

Again, if you don't like the price you just have to move on. They may be looking to take advantage of a uneducated buyer as well, but thats life. Not everyone is an upstanding citizen and it feels to me like its getting worse sadly.

Did you just move here? You don't list your location so I don't know if you are just someone from out of state posting, or a fresh transplant.

Well thats mighty decent of you, wish more peolpe comported themselves in that manner.

I know not every one doe the due diligence of researching what the going prices are, but it is this lack of prep that costs them ion the end. As my old shop chairman used to say, "Fail to plan, Plan to fail."

We dont live in a Thomas Aquinas economic type market, their is no "just price" only the market price, given enough time it will dictate if the item sells or not.

I think you misunderstood what i meant.

If you can find it cheaper elsewhere, By all means buy it their. No reason to thread crap or vent via PM. I guess I shoudl have put "gouger", as I dont really believe in the forum such a thing exsists.
