Bright nickel Python 4 inch price check.

My friend from the range has a four inch bright nickel Python in about 99% condition . Correct grips and everything.

    No box or papers.

If He will sell it , He want 1600.00 +PPT .

Is the price out of line ? I see them all over the place . I even see them for less..... Its a beautiful gun , but being really minty and bright nickel I don't see any reaon for me to buy it .I was very temped to buy it , but see no use for it.

    What do You think?

Bright nickel in great in condition usually commands more than a blued python (probably because the blueing fades/rubs off). I’ve seem them advertised (doesn’t mean they sold) $2000+ with box and papers.

IMO 1600 is on the high side of a “friend” deal - and for 1600 I would want the box and papers.
What year is it? (serial #?)

As an exempted person it would most likely be cheaper for said exempted person to find a similar condition one out of state and ship it in to your favorite FFL.
Google whatever condition, length, finish + Python and search for the most backdoor, website that pops up with solid pictures. Call them and hope they ship, and Bada-Bing a Python.

For Non-exempt persons in CA its not that easy so you may be able to purchase that python and flip it here in CA.

I think $1,600 is a pretty decent price, if the condition is as described.

This is from KBB from a couple years ago, IIRC 2009/10
                Python Nickel finish
                - available in polished or satin nickel, disc. 1985.
                100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
                $1,200 $950 $675 $575 $475 $395 $300
                Last MSR was $693.
Add 20% for NIB condition (except for 3 in. nickel).
Satin nickel finish is so designated on original boxes as "Royal Coltguard" or "E NICK" (electroless nickel).
Remember they often sell for higher than that because colt folk (like me!!!) are colt crazy...

Eddys has one advertised in the Commercial section -2 Grand, IIRC - a little too much for my blood, but for the right buyer...
