    Springfield Longslide Poor Quality

Okay I ordered a Springfield Longslide a while back. Today I go to DROS the pistol and I notice how bad it looked. I talk to the dealer but its the only one they have and they have no idea when they would be able to get a another one. I offered me my money back. My question is do I go thru with it and just send it back to Springfield to fix it. picture are below..What do I do?

Might want to check the expiration date on the CA DOJ list for this longslide. I remember it being this month. Thats why I picked mine up last month.

Call Springfield and I guarantee they will refinish it, no questions asked. Their customer service remains legendary. I currently have a pistol at the Custom Shop for warranty service.

Before you send it, I would recommend shooting it to make sure there aren't any other issues that could be addressed at the same time.

The CA DOJ Roster...who knew it was such a great marketing tool to drive "panic" sales for the manufacturers.

not to derail the original post,

The CA DOJ Roster has done a lot of harm and not a thing to help stop anything. I can see someone arguing against people's ownership of a mini gun, but why the limitation on the average revolvers and pistols? Caused a very poor selection and naturally higher prices. Not to mention how many gunshops went out of business.

Is it N or NM serial? I cant believe they let something like that get by.

Call them and they will make it right.

I've owned Springfield 1911s since the mid 90's - and I will say that while their QC has disappointed me on their production guns from time to time, their customer service more than makes up for it. The fitment issues (slide overhang/underhang) you've got are the ones that bug me...

Last year I sent an Ultra-Compact back (rear sight was wrong height) and they noted the crappy trigger and fixed it gratis.

Unfortunately Springfield has been dropping the ball lately as far as quality goes. I guess they just wanna rely on their CS to brush up whatever they missed during production. I'd call em up and see what they could do for you. I'm sure they'll get it fixed for you.

Springfield has a lifetime warranty. I have had nothing but good experiences with SA customer service. Send it back

Sucks that a new gun would be that bad. Looks like they chopped off a bit of the end of the slide or something. I guess if you really want a longslide, then the only real option is sending it back.

If I were you, I will not buy that gun or any brand new gun unless I am completely satisfied. In case you want to buy online and just have it shipped to your FFL, last time I checked buds has the long slide in stock.
I used to own a SA 1911 loaded with the slide overhang (opposite of what you have) with extractor issues. I sent it back, they fix the extractor but told me that the slide overhang does not interfere with function and if I want that taken care of it needs to be sent to the custom shop and I have to shoulder the costs.
