In fact, your post is higher on the troll scale than his.

Oh? Did I just get it hook line and sinker?

Unless you are saving more than $200 its not worth doing because the FFL will rape you in transfer fees.

Other then GunGenie or using Bud's for the layaway purpose, I don't really know if you can save a whole lot by the time the fees are paid for.

GunGenie will give you a quote with all the fees included. http://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/. So you know right up front what the total cost will be. They also seem to have programed what is legal and what is not into their system in this state.

Bud's... Check the roster. They will cancel the sale before sending you a off roster gun but you get your hopes up and then BOOM the CA ban hammer smacks you

What are you looking for and what area are you in? Sometimes the members here have the low down on what is in your area and who has the best prices.

          Oh, you are so wrong...

If you have found an FFL with high tranfer fees then you only have a "I found the wrong FFL" problem, not a real problem.

Shop around and do some research, there are FFLs in almost every area of CA that still keep transfer fees resonable.

Unless you know seller or beleive his reputation to be outstanding I would recommend just buying new. Used firearms aren't typically all that much cheaper.

            I disagree.

completely agree..... I searched almost every shop around here looking for 2 very specific firearms. Looked online and saw that company xyz is selling both of them for so much cheaper I got both firearms for a bit more than a few local shops wanted for one. Yes including transfers and tax.

There is a downside to it though... You better be patient. I am supposed to pick up tomorrow. since order day it will be 22 days...including my cooling off. I would have to assume a handgun would be faster since it ships overnight I believe.

I bought my glock 34 online because no one in my area had it in stock. one shop didnt want to help me find it, the others wanted to charge ridiculously more than retail to special order it. it would have been more expensive to drive out of town to buy it (and again 10 days later), than to order online. so the decision was easy for me, as was the process.
I found an FFL nearby that had a reasonable transfer fee (a local private security firm who gets their profits elsewhere than from ffl transfers), who was more than willing to do the transfer. I called up the "online" store in Arizona, asked them what I needed to do with their side. They were more than happy to explain it to me - since I already had an ffl lined up, I could go ahead and order the gun, then have the ffl send/fax their info to the shop with my order number attached. the shop then shipped out the gun to the ffl. the ffl called me when it came in. I went in to do the paperwork, waited 10 days (ten 24-hour periods) and came back to pick up the gun.
              pretty painless.

I liked Impact Guns website. If you punch in your zip code on checkout they will give you a list of FFL dealers in your area that they already have paperwork on so you don't have to go through the extra steps, just click and pay. I guess you need to find out which ones have the better prices. And their gun prices are pretty cheap.
