SP2022 VS P226

So I can't really decide one way or the other on which model I should get. I like the all metal P226 but I like the weight difference of the 2022.

So other than the weight difference and the price which version offers more, talk me into or out of either one

P226 100% unless you plan to carry it who cares about the weight. You will be glad in the long run that you spent a bit more on the metal gun.

I owned a p226, and have shot the sp2022 many times.

Honestly, if you don't mind the plastic, go with the sp2022. It's just as reliable, shoots just as well (if not better) and is half the cost.

The frame on the 226 is aluminum anyway, so it's not like you are deciding between plastic and forged carbon steel.

I have the 2022 in .40 and if they were both the same price I would have gotten the 226. Some of these 2022's like mine have a fte problem. I bought mine last month and its being sent in because its fte on the 6th-9th round a bit often. I also hear that if you put a flash light on there that it will also have problem from the frame bending vs. metal I think you will....er I am sure you will have less problems. I liked mine because of the price and night sights, but so far I am not impressed with this gun or Sigs customer service

Between the 2, I chose the 2022 for my EDC and could not be happier. My .40 is all German and "proofed". 2,500 rds so far and no problems; very smooth trigger in both da and sa.

I've owned both. I traded the 226 for an XDM 9mm. The 226 seemed like a great pistol, but I could never personally shoot it very well. Could be poor technique, could be a number of things. But the XDM is a tack driver by comparison. I missed the Sig though, and picked up a 2022 on sale a little bit ago.

Just as fun for about half the cost of a 226. It doesn't have quite as good fit and finish (the plastic grips are not nearly as nice as the polymer used in the Springfield), but it's a great shooter, and I love that it's a DA/SA with decock.

It has been 100% reliable after several hundred rounds through it.

I have a 2022 and it's been flawless. Yet I'm not crazy about it, unlike most who have them. I bought it on impulse, and for a Sig with night sights it was a great deal. If you're looking to carry it, the lighter weight of the 2022 might be better; but if the money difference isn't an issue, the 226 is kind of a classic. Supposedly 226s were on the raid the killed bin Laden; lots of cops carry them. The 2022 has been adopted, I think, by some French military units, which I suppose means it's drop safe. Ha ha.

I own a 2022 in nine & have fired the 226. Money no object that's a tough call. Depend on what ya want it for. I don't think you'd go wrong either way.

If $$ is a consideration, no brainer. SP2022.

I sold my sp2022 for a p229, I liked the heavier weight and the ability to customize my grips.

226 all the way! I look at my guns as minor investments. If I ever get tired of one, I like to sell or trade them and get as much of my money back as possible. Look at the for sale ads and you can see that there isn't much demand for the plastic Sigs. But a 226 will always get good money or can be used to trade for another nice gun.
