Ruger P95

Its been awhile since I've been on the forum but I'm back and have some input on my Ruger.

I bought the gun back in Oct. 2011 and havent been able to take it out and get a feel for it. On Monday, some friends and I were able to shoot some skeet (Hawk 982) and boy oh boy did I love the P95. I had some problems with the slide not locking back with an empty mag and was going to give Ruger CS a call until I figured out the problem myself. After shooting, I cleaned the gun and the mags. Gave the springs a good stretch in the mag and BOOM, back to normal. Now I cant wait to take it out again.

On Monday I was able to set out some targets at 25 yards (get a little Top Shot competition going.) Didnt realize how far 25 yards was but was still able to get a 5-6" grouping with the Ruger. Not bad for a first time shooting the gun. I also didnt realize that in Top Shot, most of the handgun targets are set at 25-35 FEET! hahaha I thought it was yards. Oh well still had a blast.

Similar problems with mine. After about 300 or so rounds its now perfect. Despite their low price these are tight fitting guns that need a few rounds to break in. Good luck.

The guy I bought it from said he put about 100 through her and I put 100 last Monday. Sometime this week I'll be able to shoot a couple hundred more.

For the little problem that is, the gun is still great.

I want one!!! I put one on layaway but let the layaway expired for another gun. Now I'm regretting not getting it.

I'll admit that I was not fond of them when I first saw them, but they have grown on me big time! I'll have to try one out sooner than later.

I know there are other guns that are better out there but for the price, I dont think anything beats it. But then again, I might be a little biased just because I own one. Hahaha

LoL, how many times do you think you can stretch a spring back out until it is completely gone.

Just means I got to buy new mags, or rotate which ones I keep loaded and which ever arent.

They are great guns. Mine keeps on going round after round. Never had a problem with mine and its an older model. Its atleast 10 years old.

IMO the whole P series is underrated. I think Ruger seriously effed up doing away with the alloy frames.

Ummm... you DO know that you can buy new springs, right? About $8 a pop or so. You can even get +Power from Wolff.

Brother, I think that as long as it goes bang when you want it to and puts lead where you want it to go, it's a keeper.

I figured I can buy new springs, but I might as well spend some more bucks to get a whole new mag. My 2 cents

Took the Ruger out for another day at the range. Put about 100 rounds through her. Felt great I have to say. I left one mag loaded through the week and that gave me some problems again. The other I left unloaded left the slide locked back.

Looks like Im going to have to get a new mag and or new springs.

This is the only issue I have had with my p95. I have 3 magazines all have the same issue. Stretching the springs works for a time but it always returns. Just ordered some replacement springs. I kept all my magazines loaded, I think in the future I am going to rotate mags. Other than that, I love this sidearm.
