    FS92 or Maybe CZ75

Thank you, Calgunners for all the knowledge I have received over the years. I am contemplating getting a 9mm and debating between the above two pistols. A nice deal has been offered to me on a FS92. I understand the differences between the USA vs Italian made FS92models.

I am looking for real world feedback about their reliability, quality and overall impression. I like full size frames and own other firearms from these makers. The final purchase will be for informal target shooting and introducing others to center fire pistol shooting.

Thanks for any and all feedback on these two specific pistols.

Both great pistols! For me, I would go with the beretta.

      Im a bit biased, CZ

Id look at either the CZ 75 SA, then convert it to DA/SA, or the SP01 opposed to the standard 75B model. Both of the other models have a much nicer feel with the upswept beavertail.

          I own both.

          Reliability - same
Accuracy - I'm not good enough to determine
          Ease of racking - 92FS
Grip size (for smaller hands) CZ75B

I don't like the Beretta's controls on the slide, you can inadvertently flip the safety on during a malfunction drill (or handling a malfunction in real life).

If the purpose is teaching, maybe the placement of the controls is not a big issue.
If teaching will be primarily to someone who has trouble racking a pistol, the Beretta wins the day with the caveat that small hands that usually accompany the weak racking problem will have difficulty with the grip.

The 92 will show a newbie double action and single action. Yes, the 75B can do double action, but getting the gun to double action is not done as easily as the 92FS. It can also lead to a negligent discharge.

You'll have to be the judge with the criteria I have mentioned, it would be out of my place to say one is better than the other. It's like adult underwear - it Depends.

I wanted either. I held both and my hands just fit the CZ much better. It's been a great gun.

What? CZ75 is DA/SA. For DA, just pull the trigger. ??!!

Get a p-01 or a 75BD (or any of the other many CZ 75 based models with a decocker), problem solved : )

                  Thanks

OldEyes, I really appreciate your detailed reasons which helps me decide. From all the responses, I get that I really can't go wrong with either. More votes for the CZ at this point. I may end up getting both as I have no local shooting buddies who own either to shoot as test guns. Taking my time will allow me to also to hopefully get as good a deal on a CZ as the Beretta.

Thanks for all the input. I really appreciate the time and trouble you spend on answering my questions. No substitute for your experience.

Standard 75B is DA/SA but not a decocker model, so you would have to carefully lower the hammer yourself. Thus the possibility of an ND. I would guess the DA pull is for second strike capability, as opposed to carrying with the hammer down.

I prefer the 75B SA so much that I have 2.

Many DA/SA guns are like that. Most of them have a half cocked, and as long as you arent a total 'tard, you are fine.

                      Hold back Hammer
                      Pull trigger
Lower hammer slightly, release trigger reengaging FP block
lower hammer more to half cocked.
