    NON-DROP Glock mags

I have non-drop Glock mags. Is there anyway to make them drop free mags with parts kits???

no, just get new parts kit to replace them. My 2nd gen Glock 19 mags were the same. Save yourself the trouble. Bring kits in only according to the law.

I recently rebuilt most of my old non-drop frees with modern drop-free kits. As stated above, make sure you take a apart the old ones before bringing in the new ones!

There was a thread in the sellers forum last week about someone selling all sorts of Glock kits. Might be worth contacting them.

ETA: Here's the link. Looks like you need to order today!

Confused???? If new parts kits do not fit my NON DROP mags how can I buy parts kits. I just want to be able to drop my mags if I want to do 3 Gun shooting.

Legally, you can replace ALL the parts in a mag via a rebuild kit. There are two basic types of kits. Most common ones just have some of the parts, usually a spring and follower, the less common ones are complete mags in a disassembled state.

You'll need the latter as only the base plate and internal lower spring plate are interchangeable(possibly the spring, but they are sure to be worn out anyway.)

You have to make sure that your current mags are taken apart before you assemble the new kit so that you end up with the same number of mags that you started with.

Some people feel it's best to keep the old parts to prove that you had originals. As it's not required by law, some feel that you shouldn't on general principle. I pretty much only keep kits the might have some resale value somewhere down the road. There hasn't been any interest in old, thrashed, non-drop free bodies, so I cut them up and tossed them in the trash.

i tried to modify ome of my glock 21 mags to fall out the problem is the more you sand and polish the weaker the sides get and they swell even more

then it got out of spec and the lips swelled a bit so i was getting jams

i bought a scherer replacement and man what a waste of money so much plastic sprue in side i had to slice out with a razorknife they are not full metal lined either also weird thing happens with the square shame on the back it sometimes catches a case and it sits funny on the top

get new bodies or live with them they dont bother me any even the drop free do not drop free like my metal on metal magwells like 1911 or p226

i dont want to break a floorplate having it land on a hard surface

The new style 10 round mas have a button on the bottom of the bas plate to get it off. On my NON DROP mag there is NO button on the base plate. How do these baseplates come off??

If you believe the manual, you squeeze the base of the mag as hard as you can and shove the lower rear of the base plate against a hard surface, this should unlock them and slide the base plate forward enough to clear the locking lugs.

I usually use a small screw driver and pry them off. Yes, it scratches the heck out of them, but it doesn't affect anything.

On the other hand, if you already have new rebuild kits in hand or on the way and you are going to destroy these, you can use pliers, a vice, hammer, sawz-all or anything else you've got on hand to tear them apart.

the old ones were made with thinner (more flexible) metal inserts which lead to the mags swelling so to speak. The newer generation changed that flaw. Aftermarket ones were actually worse, no metal inserts. I have 10 of those.....
