    45 Super Ammunition

I came across a box of 45 Super ammo, manufactured by Texas Ammunition Company. Is this ok to shoot in factory Springfield 1911s, or a USP that are chambered in 45 ACP?

If not, I would have to imagine that the market to sell this is pretty small

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Not the best of ideas. Ive seen on the interwebs people running small amounts of it through XD's and glocks without any damage.

I would shoot it thru a bull barrel 1911...not the regular ones (barrels are so thin).
Might need to get a higher pound recoil spring as well.

If I had to pick, I would send it thru the USP instead of the 1911.

        Good Luck.

A Ruger SA in 45 ACP would handle the 45 Super fine as would a Smith 625. I wouldn't use it in an older 25 nor the 1917s.

Everything you need to know http://www.realguns.com/archives/020.htm $8 conversion to shoot 45 super

Some of Springfield 1911 (like the V-16) came with two recoil springs; one for regular and one for the 45 super. Some of thier V-16 were stamped 45 Super and other were not, but both would shoot the ammo.
