So the instructors keep the records. Do they keep the $25 fees as well?

$15 of it goes to DOJ.

yes, they get to keep the $25 in fees. However, they pre-paid CADOJ $15 for each blank card, purchased in packs of 10? IIRC. So, the instructor sends CADOJ $150 upfront and gets 10 cards that they can "sell" for $25 with a passed exam.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Fortunately I have a C&R FFL as well as a COE.

This means I can save the $25 fee every five years by renewing my COE annually for $22 and my FFL every three years for $30.

I didn't know there was going to be any math on this test.....

Don't even want to discuss my BFSC... BFPITA is more like it.

only if you don't plan on buying any modern handguns. The 03FFL+COE exemption to the HSC regs only apply to C&R handguns.

What are the Handgun Safety Certificate (HSC) requirement exemption codes?

              Just for info.
I recently verified that the X81 exemption does not expire even if you let your P.O.S.T. lapse. Probably true for the others as well, but best to check rather than assume...

Because sometimes, and it happens, your FFL might not have any cards to issue on the day you purchase your gun.

Aren't we micromanaging/anticipating situations that are just easily managed by taking the test again?

Even so, what good is the cert, except for being able to purchase another gun? Can't you just take the test again when you next purchase one?

HSC has a valid date? Oh ,yes, last year I know how to handle a gun, this year, I totally "forget it". : )

So if I graduated from the academy in 2000, but am not an active LEO, then I can purchase a new handgun without taking the HSC test?

                        Thanks,

I checked with DOJ and the answer is "yes". There is no expiration on PC832 for the X81 exemption.
