Kimber Custom TLE II Chip McCormick Power Mag 10 jamming issues.

Has anyone else experienced problems with this combo? My Kimber is still in the break in period (over 300 rounds) but towards finishing up on the range a week ago EVERY round with that magazine (have 2 of them) jammed. Original magazine doesn't give much problems. Any recommendations? I would also like to buy 2 more magazines (8 rounds if this is a 10 round mag issue?) but I'm not sure if I should get Chip McCormick again.

What kind of jams are they? Are the Rounds nose diving into the feed ramp? Are they riding nose high into the barrel hood? Is the slide catching the middle of the case? Empty cases not ejecting? Too many types of jams.

Primarily diving into the feed ramp where it doesn't enter the barrel. The mouth of the barrel and the top of the feeding ramp have noticeable wear because of this. But there is also misfeeding where the bullet gets stuck at the barrel hood. Ejecting problems are also present.

Basically it gets stuck at the feeding ramp.
If it gets past the feeding ramp it hits the barrel hood at an angle.
If it gets past that and does shoot, the case gets stuck upon ejection.

I have not. The original Kimber mag has worked fine so I assumed it was a CM/10 rd mag issue.

I agree, it must be the CM mags. Ditch the 10 rds CM's, get the Kimber Tac-Pro if you want to have more mags.

I remember Larry Vickers saying at one point that ten round mags of any type are not reliable in a 1911. He said, for this reason, he never uses them. I've only used seven and eight round mags in a 1911, so I don't have any personal experience with 10s, but that's a pretty good source of 1911 information. I would just go back to seven or eight round mags. Two rounds is not a big deal.

Does it feed reliably with 7 or 8 round mags? If so, I would stick with those. I'd rather have my gun feed reliably than have the 2 extra rounds in the mag. YMMV

What kind of frame is the kimber steel or alloy?

The problem with 10 rounders is spring strength how old are the magazines I'm assuming they are new.

There could be a couple of problems going on have you checked your extractor tension.

dude break in your pistol then you can complain if it still jams. Im guessing this is your first 1911

I have used a 10 rd CMC mag in all of my 1911's without any issues but I have heard of people having issues with them lately. I bought mine about a year ago so maybe there has been some bad QC problems lately.

I have three 1911's and none of them required a "break in period."

                            The magazines are new.

1911 is steel frame. I have not made any modifications.

If its a general 1911 10 round magazine issue then there isn't anything I can do about that. And although those 2 extra rounds would be nice to have (God forbid you'd ever need them), there's no point in having them if you can't use them because of a feeding issue. So I'm going to get 8 round ones.

Would you guys recommend Kimber or CMC 8 round magazines? The only reason I bought CMC in the first place was because of all the raving reviews about them.

so none of your 1911's had any jams within the first few hundred rounds?
