    Q about CA-certified Glock 21 SF

    21SF-STD / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.6" .45 ACP 6/14/2008

I know this gun has the standard Glock rail, but does it have the ambi safety, or single-sided? I would like a G21SF that has the single-sided safety, so that I can use my old G21 standard mags with it.

the listed glock 21-sf has the single-sided mag release.

I think you are referring to the mag release...glocks don't have safeties as far as I remember.

          Yes, he means mag release.

Glocks DO have safeties, just not thumb activated as many expect.

Correct on the non-ambi magazine release and standard rail as the listed version for CA. Although you can also find ambi and picatinny rail version here as well that somehow slipped through.

I bought my non-ambi version in August and can confirm that your older G21 mags will work just fine without any modifications to the mags.

lol, yes, mag release. I'm so used to referring to safeties on 1911's as "ambi" that I just used the wrong term. You guys knew what I meant

I just got a 21sf with ambi mag release and standard rail. They are around.

So what exactly does CA have against a picatinny rail anyway? What can you mount on them that would cause them to be overly "unsafe"?

I don't think that it's the picatinny rail that seems to be the issue as other manufacturers offer this rail on their pistols. By adding the ambi-mag release DOJ seems to feel that enough changes have been made to the pistol to qualify it as a new model. New model must have the new required features, magazine disconnect safety , loaded chamber indicator, etc. The approved version of the G21SF, standard rail, non-ambi magazine release went as a grip size change only, a valid exception vs a new weapon design.

Apparently the ambi mag release & picatinny rail add a greater level of lethality in the eyes of the CA powers that be
