    Les Baer customer service

Anyone have experience with LB's cs?

Reason I ask is this last shooting session a sort of freak occurence happened: the tritium insert on my front night sight popped off!

One second it was there, after the next shot it's gone. My rear sights are ok.

I figure I've got no choice but to send it in for a replacement.

LB uses Champion Night Sights with a tritium insert surrounded by a steel ring.

Hoping it won't cost me too much

You're going to foot the bill shipping and it will take forever. For small jobs I would look elsewhere.

Interesting. Looks like I'll just have to bite the bullet and get the work done locally.

I wouldnt want to send in my Baer for a front sight. Do it yourself or have someone do it locally. Its a long wait and plus the risk of losing the gun during the transition.

When I purchased my new PII I found a "splotch" in the bluing, called Baer & they had me ship my slide back (on my dime...But whatever) Week later I had my slide back right as rain! I'd give them a call...

Nothin from nothin, the front sight has a blind pin which I hear is a bit of a pain! I guess you have to drill it out. You have an expensive pistol from a stand up manufacture, have them correct their mistake on their dime!

If that were Springfield, he'd have free overnight to and from their shop for warranty service.

That's how my Smith&Wesson was too, its been back to them twice. First time was because I got it with a bunch of wear that I didnt notice, before the dros (it has a Crimson trace so everyone and their grandmother fingered it) the fixed it all and replaced my slide. Second time the plunger tube came off (and I *****ed about the trigger.... they fixed it right up too (with a new trigger), gave me like a 3 to 4 week ETA.... it was at back at my door in like 5 days.

If you are close to the Stockton area and don't mind the drive, I highly recommend Ken @ Genecco Gun Works for the install. He did a great job on a few of my guns and folks in the area knows about the quality of his craftsmanship.

Yes, and unless it was a Pro or one of the other special guns it would be worse...

Baers don't come with fancy packaging or a whole bunch of extras because you get the most "bang for the buck" so to speak. If you want all the other stuff, you should probably get a Wilson.

You should at least call LB and see what their response is to this and what they're willing to do for you. Unless your gun is 100 years old, or you've beat the hell out of it, this should not happen. And I think it would be very educational to see how good...or bad...LB's service is even if you do decide to send it elsewhere.

You would likely only have to send the slide in...

Les Baer & Ed Brown's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I will never do business with them again.

Replace your sights w/ Novaks, send in the slide and they have a 1 week turnaround.

Wow, just got off the phone.

I was a bit starstruck to say the least when Les Baer Sr himself answered the phone.

Told him what was wrong, and he was a real straightshooter.

"Just send me the slide, we'll send it to Trijicon and they'll put a new insert in. You'll have to pay shipping to us, but we'll cover it on back. Should only take a couple days."

and that was that. looks like it's going out today.

Dunno, I've had good experiences with Brenda and Les Baer himself when I needed work done.

I had them replace an extractor under warranty and they turned my slide around under 24 hours from receipt.

Other times they got work done in a very timely manner. Sure I had to pay to ship there but car dealers dont reimburse you for gas when you need service done.
