Nighthawk Aluma grips?

Has anyone used these?

They look really good, but I am wondering if they are more for show, and I should get some VZ's or the MIL-Tac G-10's from the Nighthawk website.

I don't have experience w/ the Aluma grips, but they do look nice. I have a GRP that came with the Black VZ w/ the NHC logo, there ok. The Mil-Tac that look like similar to the Simonich grips are great. The golfball style designs are slightly sharp, but you can sand them down. I have the black ones. I didn't know that they had the G-10 w/ the NHC logo. Would have ordered it instead. You won't go wrong w/ the G-10.

+1 on G10 material is best all around (really depends on checkering style also).

I bought some alumnagrips on my officers size 1911, straight from alumna grips.
Wanted thin/slim grips, so they can only do normal depth checkering with that.
Oil and sweat definitely effect them more than G10 or micarta material.

Do I recommend alumna? Yes, I like mine, but there are better material to go with: G10, micarta, and wood

I am surprised that wood is on the list. It seems to me that it would be very slick when the hands sweat. Is this not the case?

I bought some Aluma Grips a while back. They look great but I ended up replacing them. If you're interested I'm willing to sell them. Only been out to the range one time. They are the slim, black, standard checkered grips with magwell. $35 shipped. PM me if you're interested.

I've got Alumagrips on my Beretta. Love 'em. Don't know if they're the same between 1911 and Beretta on this point, but they seem slimmer than the stock rubber grip panels for the 92FS, which is nice because I've got short-ish fingers. The checkering is comfortable and doesn't feel like I'm likely to lose my grip.

I'd rate them A+, tbh.

Standard checkered grips included with many a stock 1911? Wood is actually quite a versatile material, as there is a very good reason wooden handles are still used on things like hammers and axes.

G10 and Micarta would be my pick either way. VZ also seems to have the most popular designs.

Going to order a pair of the Aluma grips off the Nighthawk site. They will look cool no matter how they feel.

Bert, order the frame protectors at the same time. These grips are known for scratching up 1911 frames pretty well. If NHC doesn't have them the Alumagrips website does. I don't speak from experience, just what I've read.

Thanks Jesse. I will go to the Alumagrips site and order the protectors. I get to pick up the Predator on Tuesday and I am getting pretty excited.

Bert, your going to enjoy your new NHC. Mines was more accurate than me. Well, I was never accurate to begin with.
