MAC-10... opinions?

Evil shenanigans! I'm hoping to convince the wife to let me get this from my tax return. Anyone have experience/opinions? How hard is it to get 10 rd mags to replace the dummy they send it with? Google search yields disappointing results...
Accuracy, kick, reliability, field stripping, fun to shoot? I have a 1911 so its always a plus to double up on calibers ammo wise. Any constructive input is appreciated.

The originals had a telescoping stock and fired from an open bolt. Back in the day, it was possible to keep a mag full on a silhouette at 100 yards. Flip the switch, and the magazine was empty before you could get your finger off the trigger. They actually handled pretty well with the dedicated supressor in place, and were a handful without. Really good for room clearing or close area denial; not much other purpose.

In the neutered closed bolt form, I expect if you're looking for fun, go for it. As noted above, they're heavy little things, and they handle like a cinder block. The trigger mechanism is simple, and lends itself to a surprisingly good trigger. Without that bolt slamming forward, I expect it should shoot pretty straight. And hey; you should experience virtually no recoil!

I had one of the early MPA-10s back when I lived in the South East. I ran approx. 800 rounds of the cheapest ammo through it that I could find (mostly Wolf, CCI Blazer, and Amscor at the time) over the course of maybe 6 months, without any issues.

From what I recall, I managed to find a couple of 10 round Grease Gun mags with the Sionics/MAC/RPB snake logo stamped on them at a local gunshow back then, and they worked without issues (like all but one of the Grease Gun mags that I had), so there are definitely 10 rounders out there for it. How easy they are to find, I have no idea (perhaps I just got lucky).

The big .45 did not have the trigger-slap problem that the 9mm version has (at least mine didn't), but be prepared to deal with its weight. Putting a sling on it would probably make it more fun to shoot...if you can find one of the old-school front sling mounts for it, pick it up.

I got my mac11 because I just had to have it. I wouldn't recomend getting a mac style gun. They're just way to heavy and aren't really made for target shooting. But she is a head turner at the range.

Thanks for the sound advice guys! Yeah it looks like its in the neighborhood of 6 pounds. Hefty little bugger... also interested in potential of adding an RDS. I expect to try it on some unfortunate pests around my ranch.

I have the mpa930 mini 9mm and its a blast to shoot. 700 rounds and have not had any problems. Pretty accurate too.

If it's a mac-10 and it is not F/A, then I really seen no point in owning one. JMHO.

They are fun to shoot but only in F/A.

I have an Intratec AB-10 (a fake @ss Tec 9) that I bought at Turners for $175 in 1998. Now it's a registered AW. I shot over 500 rounds before it would even cycle properly.
The Mac's available are even worse. IMO. They are heavy as heck and uncomfortable to shoot.
But if you have to get your gangsta on, it's a good choice.

I have one. I love it.

That said, it's a pretty dumb gun If you want something that looks cool and is kinda fun to blast with, it's a pretty good deal.
