So Xmas came late for me this year. I did not buy anything for Xmas this past year nor the year before.
But just now I managed to find (or it found me) a beautiful perfect CZ 97B .45 ACP, and it feels like Xmas all over again for me now.
I will drive up to Redding Calif on Saturday to effect (means carry-out) the transfer.
In our Communist Peoples Republic of California you may not touch a gun until the 10 day waiting period is over with. As if 10 days is going to make any difference at all for anything. Also, and ordinary resident may only sell to a licensed gun dealership. Ergo my seller will FedEx the handgun to my regular dealership in Cupertino Calif (that's where Apple Computer & I-Phones is) and then I will pay him in Redding at FedEx for it.
In the meantime, I have been musing over the comparison between the most powerful semi-auto pistol in the world (that I know of) versus the most powerful revolver in the world. Take a look at the photo below, to see what I mean.
The bullet on the left is the famous .45 ACP, with 230 grains FMJ, a whopper that many people believe is too strong to be a good CQB combat/police raid calibre. There it is. Hailing from the Philippines wars for which it was designed to knock down and kill dope loaded sappers.
Right next to it is the wildlife equivalent of it, the .44 magnum with 225 grains half-jacketed, which is what it takes to do the same thing to a bear, any bear, in North America.
I marvel at the difference between us, between us humans and the bears.
We are certainly a fragile lot, compared with them. You can tell, from these bullets, side by side.
