Was in the same boat and ended up getting an M&P 45 though I had wanted a 9mm originally.

The SR9 came in a close second. M&P 9 was more accurate for me though.

SR40 I fired was fine but had a very gritty trigger. I like the slimness, would be good for CC, but I prefer the M&P.

M&P because I have a feeling that aftermarket support will flourish like Glock did due to federal contracts.

M&P. Not huge on Ruger autos but there pretty sweet, love the look of the SR series but your better off aftermarket and parts wise with an M&P. The trigger is somewhat better on the SR series from what I've read, I've had limited experience on them but either way.

M&P. I shot both and s&w performed better for me. I don't regret it and would do it again

They are both great guns and they are from USA. Get both.

As said go shoot them both, hopefully at the same time this way you will feel any differences between the 2 and be able to decide which you like better. I have a early SR9 and do enjoy shooting it, yes at first the trigger was a little gritty but with a little polishing and now over 5000 rounds through it its nice and smooth now. I have had not 1 single failure with this gun.

As for after market parts Ghost makes triggers for them and Galloway Precision makes other various parts for them.

Haven't had one problem with my SR9 yet and i love it, this is one of the sr9's with the newer triggers so it's nice and smooth.

They're both excellent choices, I just like the way M&P looks & feel over Ruger. YMMV!
Have you shot an M&P 9c with a DCAEK installed? It will make your decision a lot easier .

I have shot both and were both nice. But I'm leaning more towards the M&P.

your opinion is clearly biased since you own two of these.

I would choose the M&P also, but only because I own only one and am very satisfied with it. Reliable, accurate, and shoots well for me.

Lots of LE agencies are going with the M&P. Those guns get a lot more use and abuse than your average owner will give.

As for me, daily carry of M&P FS or M&Pc depending on attire. Absolutely great guns, 100% reliable all the time.

go with the SR9!!! Kinda bias, but they're great guns man! I absolutely love mine, and that's after the fact that I ordered a compact and received a full size. Still love it.

Its really a case of what fits YOUR hands and taste. I have shot both and for me it was ruger all the way. I bought the 3rd varient, "D" mag drop. the triggers on these are to ME a better trigger then the M&P and have zero "gritty" feel....just my two bits...cheers Bart
