    GLOCK WONT LOCK

My Glock 23 is not consistently locking back after the last round. It's happening with multiple mags. Aside from the mags possibly being worn down, what else might cause this? Also, how can you tell if your mags are ARE worn down?

weak rounds? Recoil spring too strong? Spring on slide-lock too weak? Burr or grit in the slide-lock's channel?

Limp wristing. Thumbing the slide release while shooting.

Those are the two quick fixes that come to mind.

I'm 99% sure your hitting the slide release its actually really easy to do next time you go shoot deliberately keep your fingers away from the lever and see what happens.

+1 on your grip. I have seen it happen repeatedly with some of my friends who are 1911 shooters with both thumbs forward and used to resting on the manual safety. It happens and they don't even know they are doing it and then they claim my gun is malfunctioning.

To eliminate that possibility, I shot the last rounds with one hand.

As in you already have tried deliberately keeping your thumb away from slide release?

It's still possible to get on thumb on the slide release if you're right handed.

What other factors could there be? How old is the Glock? Was it used when you bought it? Anything replaced? What kind of rounds are you using? More information = more educated troubleshooting.

If you are shooting "thumbs high", just resting on the slide will cause this to happen, dosen't have to be slide lock related.

Remove the slide and insert a magazine. Does the little tab connect with the follower in the mag correctly?

Do you often use the slide stop lever to allow the slide to go forward? If so, many don't know this, but using this type of technique will wear out the contact points between the slide stop and slide.

Take a look at the slide and see.

Pare- I have been guilty of that from time to time...are you saying to look for wear on the slide stop lever?

I'm not sure if it's been suggested, but insert an empty mag into the magwell and without touching the slide lock lever, see if the slide will lock back. That should eliminate the magazine springs. Also, To check if it's just the slide lock lever, remove the slide and test the lever by slightly pulling it up and to check if the tension is weak or strong. The lever should reset to position. If you detail strip you Glock, check if it's below the small pin just above the large pin.
