Went with the XD9-SC/ Bi-Tone OD
I have been researching 9mm in sub-compact for some time and made a decision today which one to get. I took into consideration, in the following order,
-Cost <$525.00
-Reliability
-Capacity
-Concealment
Let me preface by saying I am not brand loyal. I have Rugers, Glock, Springfield, Sig and Kimber in the stable. With that said, based on my search criteria, Kimber and Sig were DQ'd.
G-26- I have a Glock 19 so I am familiar with the quality. The G-26 offered the interchangeability with mags and is priced right. Was not completely onboard with the small grip area. Overall, a strong contender.
Khar CW or CM9- This gun was intriguing. However, I have concerns over the frame wear which has been reported. Also the FTF/FTE problems some have experienced. I wanted a gun I would not be afraid to run copious rounds through practicing for the day we hope never comes.
Walther PPS- I don't have any direct experience with the Walther product. Being how it is under the S&W brand that alone warranted consideration. Out of the choices, it did not fare well in 2 of my required components. Cost and Capacity as it was more expensive than the others and had only a 7+1 mag capacity. In a time of distress, I might need the extra 3 rounds.
Springfield XD-SC As said, I went with the XD in bi-tone Olive Drab for a few reasons. I have an XD-40 SC which is flawless. It was comparable in price to the KHAR but comes with the accessories we are all familiar with. I like the 10+1 capacity and the slightly larger frame than the rest. I know that I can carry it concealed very well as I already have good results with the XD-40.
In the end it was really down to the G-26 or the XD. It was a close call but in the end, the XD was more practical for my needs.
