I was cleaning a new-to-me Kimber Custon II and noticed that the serial number from the frame is engraved on the underside of the slide on the firing pin block. It looks obviously done by hand. Is this common in Kimbers or something the previous owner did?

It's from the factory. Looks like handwriting huh? Mine is the same way.Sent from free America otherwise known as Utah. -
Exactly! It looks like it's done by hand with an engraving tip.
That's nice to know. That's kind of what I suspected or hoped. It's no Les Baer but it's still nice to know that there is some attention to keeping matching parts together.Comment

Yup it's to for best fit... they keep the slide and frame together after fitting. Les does this as do alot of the better makers."Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

Kinda makes you think twice about changing out parts on your Kimber when you know it was fit perfectly at the factory.Sent from free America otherwise known as Utah.Comment
