    P30 anyone?

I took a buddy to my range recently and he shot a couple of my pistols and after some research he's going with a 9mm or .40, he doesn't mind the price difference. He apparently loves the look and feel of the P30. I'm aware and so is he, that it will have to be SSE'd, that being said, any of you have issues with finding parts, did it run well and was it a hassle to SSE that particular pistol?

I was trying to show him some other options like a SIG P229/P226, or a M&P .40/9mm, and even a G17 but he wants hammer fired. I then told him about my old 96 .40 but he seems set on HK's.

My buddy a cop and has the P30. it was a really nice shooting pistol. I don't see why any problems would arise with the SSE since it just a drop in barrel.

P30 is a fine pistol but then so is the sig line. Just got me a 229 SAS E2 and it's just as sweet as my P30.

      It's all up to preference.

Yea I just hadnt seen alot of them, although the price tag on top of SSE pricing may be a big issue. In any case sounds like he's leaning toward it in .40 but may go 9mm.

He says he likes that decocker option that has it on the back of the slide, but says he still sees the safety lever on the side of the gun. I've never been experts in the trigger modules (V1, V2...etc..), is he able to get it and just have it standard DA/SA with the decocker on the back with no safety lever? I noticed I see some models like with LEM without it since its more or less a constant trigger. They just fill in the hole with a pin from the looks of it. After shooting my Sig he's preferring that style of no safety but a decocker.

Mags are another issue, do they even make 10 rounders for it? :/.

Oh and yea the P229 is a great pistol, heck I'm into Sig a ton, love therer products, but he's preferring polymer frame but hammer fired. It was this or a Sig Pro and he said he wanted to try something new before he bought a Sig.

No they do not mag 10 rounds mag for it, but you can always pin them. Direct Action solution has them for about 980

I had a p30 and now have a p30l in 9mm. They come with 15 round mags, but you can get 10 round aftermarket ones. The trigger is a little stiff, but reliability is amazing! It shoots nice, and straight and is easy to clean. Its a great gun to have.

Actually I found a few, googled around for even longer and found a few sites, even HK parts that has them, but there out of stock for the moment, or there like 50. In any case sounds like he can get some regardless if they can be pinned or not, but I hope having a place like direct action do it doesnt cost a ton more than the mags by themselves.

A few others had them in stock but it was expensive, and they appeared to be genuine HK.

Oh and I love the ergonomics of the grip and interchangeable side and back straps.

                I added a veridian green laser/light combo to mine and it's my go to gun.....till I get a 1911

The feel is a great selling point for me. About $1135 OTD for SSE in the bay area shops that do this. Add an LEM trigger on a V3 and you're good to go!

Just picked up my SSE P30L in V3(DA/SA w/rear decocker) today from DAS(props to them) and its great. My only irk with it is the SA trigger does not break cleanly/smooth. Slightly spongy and does have some creep so that will have to get fixed sometime. The DA still pulls smoothly and has a clean break. If your looking for parts, www.hkparts.net sells all HK stuff so you can replace whatever breaks(if any). Now HK just came out with word that their making a P30L in V2(heavy LEM) which should be out within a month or so so if your friend is interested in that then he should wait. There is a kit to convert the P30L V3 to V1/2 however it is not HK authorized and does leave a slight gap in the back of the slide where the decocker goes. Then they also make a P30LS(LEM with safety, no deocker) if he wants to go that route. If he doesnt want the L version and just wants the P30 they do make it in LEM also but extremely hard to find so SSE will be a long wait for that version.

I'd LOVE a P30 with a light LEM, but the SSE and added expense aren't too appealing.

Hey, if you had a friend who was an LEO, anyone know how it would work if he/she bought one and did a PPT?
