    M&P 45c

Did a search and didn't really come up with anything conclusive, so here it goes...

I know this is an "Off-Roster" Pistol so I plan on SSE or getting lucky and swooping one up via PPT. Anyhow, I've been doing some research and wanted to know if any CalGunners have this gun and/or have shot it and what your impressions were of it? How it felt in hand, pointed, etc..

Oh yeah, I love my M&P 9c with the Apex DCAEK installed and think that the M&P 45c would be a great addition to my collection but wanna get some more opinion's first . Thanks in advance.

I haven't shot one but I'll watch this thread because I'm thinking of SSEing one myself in a few months.

I had one. Very nice, ergonomic gun. Great size, basically the same as a Glock 19, albeit a little wider. If you have small to regular hands, the flush fit mag that it comes with will fit your hand fine. If not, the mags with the finger extensions are great. Recoil is decent for a compact .45. The Glock 30 handles it a little better, but the M&P45c isn't as wide and square as the 30 either. Overall, a very good gun. Definitely recommend the Apex kit. My stock trigger was terrible. Only downpoint to the gun for me.

I've been itching to get an M&P45 mid and compact for a couple of months...except I can't find them anywhere. No one has any and they don't know when they will get more. Seems like S&W has been focusing on fulfilling gov't contracts. Good luck.

Wow, I didn't think too many people had the M&P45c pistols in Cali, but I didn't think that almost no one has one! I've had mine for about a year. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Like someone said earlier, its just slightly bigger than a Glock 19, and slightly smaller than a mid-size M&P9. The size is just about perfect for a compact, but not too small 45. I can just barely fit all my fingers on the grip with the built in grip extension (like a G19 for me).

The gun has been 100% reliable out of the box, and very ergonomic. The trigger kinda sucked, but with the Apex USB and hard sear, it is super smooth and light now. There still is no Apex RAM for the .45 M&Ps, however, so the reset is still longer and very vague compared to a Glock. Recoil feels pretty mild to me but maybe I'm just so used to 45ACP. Doesn't feel that much different in recoil to me compared to a full size 1911.

I highly recommend it, I don't think there are too many competitors of its size in .45. I do have an HK45c coming in though, so I'll let you know how that compares

Sorry, these pictures are crappy but seeing as I am one of the only CG'ers who has one to do comparison photos like these, I thought they might help:

          M&P9 Mid-size, M&P45c, G26 Gen4, G19 Gen3

          M&P45c on top of M&P9 Mid-size

          M&P45c on left, M&P9 Mid-size on right

          G19, M&P45c, M&P9 sandwhich

Thanks for all the insight so far guys, I knew there were some CG'ers out there with this gun ! jdogg, thanks for all the comparison pics I used to have a Gen 3 Glock 19 and well it did not point well for me, I did like the size of it . I also like that the recoil is similar to a 1911 as I do own one and find the recoil to be more of a push as compared to .40 or a 9...I will try to rent one of these guns when I am traveling out of state in the next couple of months but so far I like what I'm reading and hearing about this gun!

One of my favorite pistols, it's the one I carry most of the time. Ergo's are great, and it's accurate. I will say that I didn't have to sse mine or ppt. I walked into the shop and it was there. I asked about it being off roster and he said it was good to go, although I knew it wasn't. I bought it anyway. He has another in FDE, mine is black with the thumb safety, and NO mag disconnect.

Twisted, what's your carry setup? I'm planning on using my Crossbreed Supertuck that I use for my 9c.

Oh, and would your shop ship 'said' pistol?

i was just working mine into my new IWB holster, when i came across this thread. love mine, so much, that i had to get the full size version,
i was an "all steel guy" until i came across this

the only issue i have had, is that it tends to shoot low, 2" at 7yds, with 230 ball. don't know yet about lighter, "performance" rounds

and recoil is (for me), not too noticable, your hand sits higher to the bore axis, so not much muzzle flip.

That may be a CG first!

Got mine from Valkyrie about a year ago. Not sure if its one of the more popular handguns for SSE, I don't remember seeing anyone else that does the SSE for it...

I know PRK Arms will do the SSE for these, that's where I got my "off roster" M&P 9c

I'm pinching pennies to SSE one. There are too many rifles that catch my fancy and so instead of going from one to another like some hyperactive puppy, I'm saving for the one pistol I really want- the M&P45C. Of course, the DCAEK will go in. After the installation in my FS, it's a sure thing.
