    FFL Transfer

Cheapest place to do transfer for a gun bought on line out of state in Fresno??

Anyone ever buy online and how does it work?

I'm trying to buy a 2nd gen Glock for cheap. They are ok on the roster aren't they?

Does the 1 gun per 30 day apply on and used out of state purchase?

goto gunbroker.com, find the tools for buyers section, they have an FFL search that can go by your zipcode. many FFLs list their price for transfers on there (either as a total cost, or as Price + DROS).

$65 for transfer, shouldn't be sales tax on used gun, 1 in 30 I believe would apply since it is a dealer transfer, not a PPT.

FYI: On new guns he does collect sales tax now on new firearms, if receipt/purchase order is in the box you pay tax on that, if receipt is sent to you, you declare the price you paid. Has to be reasonable, I mean their not going to believe you paid $200 for a new SOCOM II.

You need to verify it is still on the roster, don't buy anything before you make sure! Get exact model number and check on the DOJ web site.

1 You find hand gun, 2 you make sure it is roster approved, 3 good to check on fees with the dealer you plan on using before you buy gun, 4 you buy gun and provide your dealer with sellers information, 5 your transfer dealer sends copy of his FFL to seller, 6 seller sends gun to your transfer dealer , 7 your dealer calls you and tells you he received the gun, 8 you go in and do the transfer, you are charged what ever the dealer wants to charge you, no limit on this, this why you need to talk to your dealer before buying the gun, 9 after the standard ten day wait, you pick up gun.

Well are you going to let us know who it is? I'm assuming it's $35 plus the $25 DROS? You need to ask totals fees OTD.

He's talking about Spencer's Firearms. Nice shop and good service. No need to ask...it's all on their website.

                  ------------------------------------------------------------
Handgun: $35 + DROS + Ca. State Tax
Longgun: $45 + DROS + Ca. State Tax
Stripped Receiver: $35 + DROS + Ca. State Tax ($10 for each additional receiver from same shipper)
                  Private Party: $35

DROS is the Dealer Record of Sale.
This is a state fee and the charge is $25.

I've never been there, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Are they charging sales tax on used guns bought on line from private parties?

Not sure if they even accept transfers from out of state private parties and if they do how they approach the tax. Should be no tax with this example...but I have already been burned by a tabletop who did not understand the BOE letter and insisted on charging tax.

If you stop by or call and confirm any details please update this thread.

                        check here

if its no longer on the roster it is not importable per Cali's stupidity. from my understanding there is no such thing as private party state to state. it has to go to ffl first. I think it is in GCA1968.

Gen 2 glock = Gen 3 glock of the same model number for CAL DOJ.

Private party out of state shipments of on roster guns are permitted but have to be received by an in-state FFL. They are not processed as a PPT but as any other dealer sale so thus the 30-day rule applying and the need for on roster.

Taxes should not be charged if the seller includes info stating that it in a private occasional sale and that he/she is not a Dealer...

Yeah, with the exception to the tax collecting , its basically no different from buying any other importable gun. I know a few FFLs who have been doing it for over 20 years , who don't collect the taxes. I figure BoE is using their scare tactics to get the new ones to collect for them. I've seen the threads on here about "collect - no collect" topic , pretty intense.
