    The SIG P226 Experience

There seem to be quite a few SIG P226 owners here...a group I'll be joining on friday. I'm starting this thread in hopes of learning your experiences, tips, tricks, dos and don'ts.

What would you like to share?

Comments about the sight picture perhaps?

When you decock, don't just let the lever fly up after you push it down or it will nick the frame... IF you care about that type of stuff.

The thing loves grease. Slide Glide is highly recommended on sigforum, but I use Slip EWG and it works perfectly.

Checkmate began making the factory mags for Sig and they are crap. Mec Gar are the ones you want.

      The P226 comes with a 12 o'clock sight picture.

Not doing so may engage the stop inadvertently while firing?

No, it won't lock back on the last round. Its more likely that you keep the catch from engaging. Never heard of anyone accidentally rasing the slide catch.

haha this applies to any pistol

Back on topic. Depending on what type of grips you have i like the e2 grips way better than the big fat ugly stock grips. I had trouble activating the controls with the stock grip. E2 grips made handling the weapon way better.

I said it mainly because how the frame is built, the slide release has a rather awkward location.

Just saying, many people who are new p226 don't notice that.

Its a common problem on the P226. Maybe sig shooters just have big thumbs

                          try not to be.

anyways, OP. Richie is right about the grease, the p226 has a lot of metal to metal contact and the gun is "loose", so it's important to grease up those rails, it will smooth out the action, prevent damage and prevent malfunctions.

When I had my old p226, I didn't use any grease on it, just lube. The action was stuck because the lube dried on me after 300 rounds. The grease doesn't dry up.
I bought Brian Enos grease, great stuff. I use it on my 1911, sp2022 and AK too.

I've read a great deal about lube and decided to test TW25 first.

Reloads, even factory, void the warranty?
