    Question about my Springfield magazines

So I finally got to take my XD40 out to the desert last week and put 200 rounds through it. Well when I cleaned it, I noticed my magaizes were pretty dirty too because of the dust out there, so I decided to clean them as well. Well, now when I put them into the gun empty and hit the mag release they drop a quarter of the way and do not drop all the way like they did before. I just got my gear up promotion mags in the mail today and when I tried them they drop freely like the other two did before. Did I do something wrong putting them back together or is this normal and will go back to normal after time.

Probably put it back together wrong. Carefully disassemble your new mags and see what you did wrong.

Look at the back of the mag near where the rear of the top rounds sit. Is there a little bubbling/dinging of the metal? This s not uncommon with XD mags, especially in 45ACP and .40 .

Did you drop the mags with rounds in them onto hard surfaces? The bodies could be bent just enough to prevent dropping free.

Carefully compare the new, functioning magazines with the ones that are not dropping free. See if the bodies have been tweaked or bent. If you have a calipers, check the outside dimensions for consistency.

If there is an achilles heal to the otherwise impressive XD platform, it is the magazines.

I'll check out the mags vs the new ones some more and check for bubbling. They were never dropped and were fine till I cleaned em but pretty sure I put the spring in correct. The thing is when thy were loaded with 10 rounds they wouldn't drop freely and would do the same thing. The new ones drop freely loaded with 10 rounds. I'll keep checking it out.

Since it is still very new, call their customer service, Springfield rocks!

So I checked out my mags and didn't see any issues. I put them in loaded and their back to being fine, maybe it was spring tension issue or something
