    Kel-tec PLR-16

This might be a silly question, but as a pistol, would this ever have the chance of being sold in California?

No. It would be an assault weapon because it can accept a detachable magazine outside the pistol grip. With a fixed magazine it would be ok (I think) but it would have to go through the safety testing. I don't even think the thing could be loaded with a fixed magazine, so no, I don't see it beeing sold here.

You're not missing anything at all. According to our friends in the Free States AR pistols and other .223 semi-auto pistols are more of a novelty than a effective firearm. If you want a pistol that has the ballistics of a rifle go with the FN Five seveN. Ammo's expensive but I assure you the Five seveN is much better than the Kel-tec PLR-16.

Not really that bad... $22.95 for a box of 50 rounds surely isn't cheap, but compare that to any of the new big bores out there..

I'd like a pistol in the caliber of the FiveseveN but man is that thing ugly

I think you are right that it may not serve much purpose as a pistol. Even the Desert Eagle is on the novelty side for me but...

              It sure does look neat!

Honestly though, if I were in a free state I most likely would not even consider one. Being here give me a case of "wanting something I don't have." blues.
